What is so fascinating about coins? Coins have a real history about them such as when they were stuck and why a particular design was chosen for that time period. There is no rules stating how or when to start collecting coins, so you basically get to collect the way you want to, when you want, and how you want. The best way to begin is to consider what types of coins you would like your collection to consist of.

There are several popular approaches to collecting coins, which can be by series, type, theme, or date. You can choose to collect coins you would use everyday such as pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters or your could simply buy specially minted coins, which are made by the United States Mint. Uncirculated coins are extremely popular and the United States Mint uses a specialized coining process to make these coins that gives them a satin finish. They are manufactured the same as circulated coins, but with a higher quality of enhancements, such as slightly higher coin force, earlier strikes from dies, special cleaning process after stamping, and specialized packaging. Uncirculated coins may still have some degree of blemishes, toning, or the slight imperfection, but they are still extremely popular with collectors new and old.
