UK Car Cover Bought Online Can Save You Money

Jul 1, 2008
When looking for UK car cover the best way to search around for cover is online. Shopping online allows you to compare several policies in the shortest time possible without even leaving your home. A specialist broker will be able to gather together some of the best deals to be found online with the best content and for the cheapest premiums.

However before approaching a broker you will have to decide what type of car insurance you need. There are different levels and which is best for you will depend on several factors. Factors such as the type and size of car, the cars age, your age and your gender will all go towards determining how much the premium will be for car insurance. Younger drivers for example would have to think very carefully if they were planning to buy a car with a big engine. Very often they could find that fully comprehensive car insurance could be out of their reach and if the car was a relatively new one then fully comp would have to be taken.

There are many ways that you can help yourself to save money on car insurance to keep the premiums down. For example you could offer to pay more out on the excess for car insurance. All policies will have an excess, this is the amount that you have to stand to before the insurance company would payout if you made a claim. By offering to pay more excess you would keep down the cost of the premium, however you have to bear in mind that if you did make a claim against the policy you would have to find the excess yourself.

You can save on the cost of UK car cover by taking out third party only insurance cover. This is the least amount of insurance for your car that you can legally have while driving on the road. It offers only the very basic form of cover which would include injury cover for passengers or other people and damage to property. It would not cover your car for damages which occurred in an accident.

Third party fire and theft is also affordable for the younger generation and is an option for second hand car owners to consider. This type of policy would also cover your own car to some extent. It would provide insurance for your car if it was to be stolen or if the car was damaged or destroyed in a fire. It would also payout for repairs to the third parties car.

If you want the most complete form of UK car cover then you should take a look at getting quotes for fully comprehensive car insurance. This provides you with cover for your own car and also for the third parties vehicle if involved in an accident. It will pay out to repair your own car and some policies will provide you with a courtesy car free of charge while yours is being repaired. It would also pay for damages to the third parties car and also for medical and legal expenses as a result of the accident. You also need to check the terms of the policy as some policies would provide extras that are not included in all policies.
