Ways to Increase Gas Mileage and Save Fuel

There are many ways to increase gas mileage and save money on fuel. Don't overlook your shopping trips into town as a way to combine trips or errands. Take into account all the errands you need to run and do some trip planning and find the shortest routes possible that have the least amount of stops this can be done with online mapping services saving money, time and fuel.

Use services online that help you search for the lowest gas prices in your area or routes you travel. Take advantage of the services to help you find the lowest gas prices available. When you are planning trips include the lowest price gas stops at the pump into your trip.

The best way to shop is to search for your products online to find the lowest prices. Many major retailers offer discounts or lower prices online with a larger product selection including free shipping. This can save you money not only on the purchase but you could save fuel and time. Consider doing your shopping for Christmas and back to school to get you best product selections and also consider purchasing birthday gifts online to get that perfect gift.

If I told you air could increase gas mileage would you believe it? If you your tires are properly inflated you could see your gas mileage increase 3%. Tires that are not checked regularly for proper air pressure or wear and tear can be a safety hazard and wear even quicker. Tires that are check regularly and it should be done monthly will save you money in the long run not just on fuel costs but on tire replacement.

Have your vehicle tuned up as recommended by your owners manual. If it is running rough or your gas mileage is not what it once was it may be time to have a tuneup. It is not unusual to even have an engine that is running fine to see an increase in gas mileage due to a tuneup. A perfect example is a faulty oxygen sensor that once replace could increase gas mileage as much as 40%.

While driving always give your vehicle some distance from the one your following. Let your vehicle coast to a natural stop while minimizing brake use. Let wind resistance reduce your speed. When accelerating no need to gun it. Set your cruise control to improve gas mileage. Not only will these methods save gas but will save you money by reducing wear and tear on your engine, brakes and transmission.

Will you be trading in your gas guzzler soon for a more fuel efficient vehicle to increase gas mileage? Always compare miles per gallon or MPG and is often listed on the sticker of a new vehicle. Always find out what grade of gasoline is required for a vehicle. Some vehicles require premium and hence you will pay a premium price for that grad of gasoline. Try to stick to vehicles that take regular if a vehicle requires premium you could ruin your engine by burning regular and it will cost you more in the long run. When purchasing a vehicle it pays to do your research.
