A Leather Office Chair is for You

Jul 4, 2008
A leather office chair is a sign of prestige in the corporate world as they are usually found in the offices of upper management and corporate positions. But even if you are not on the high rungs of the corporate ladder, you can still enjoy the comfort of a leather office chair when you buy one for your own home office.

Leather office chairs do tend to be a little high-priced, but they are worth it since they are durable, easy to clean, and provide a level of comfort just not found with other types of office chairs. A leather office chair can make sitting at your desk 8 hours a day a good deal more enjoyable and easy on your body.

Leather office chairs are usually manufactured to a high standard and have adjustable swivels and lockout tilting. The height is easily adjustable with the pneumatic lever and the chairs are stable, being designed with a five foot base. The chairs also have dual wheel castors for ease of mobility. The ergonomics are designed to give support to your back and shoulders. Breathable soft leather covers the seat, back, and armrest portions of the office chairs.

Leather office chairs hold up well to heavy use and retain their new and professional look throughout their long life. There is no fabric to fray or become discolored with stains. The leather office chairs are easily wiped clean with a damp cloth so they are easy to care for also.

Leather office chairs come in many different styles, but are grouped into these main categories: high-back chairs, executive chairs, mid-back chairs, and low-back chairs. The low-back chairs have smaller backs which rise up to about lower back level when you are seated in them and are often associated with secretarial use. Mid-back chairs have backs which rise to about shoulder lever when you sit in them and make for good all around office chairs for work or a home office. High-back chairs are planned for comfort and include built in headrests. Executive chairs are commonly high-back chairs that have additional styling and appointments to give them added prestige and glamour.

As you may have guessed executive leather office chairs are the most expensive and can cost several hundred dollars or even into the thousands. It isn't necessary to spend that much money though to enjoy the comfort and benefit of owning a leather office chair. Mid-back chairs provide optimum comfort and support and can be purchased for under $200.

You can buy leather office chairs at any office furniture store or office supply store such as Office Depot. You may even be able to purchase one at a discount at a savings store such as Wal-Mart or Sam's Club. It pays to shop around and compare prices if price is a concern. You can also shop for a leather office chair online. You will find a wide selection to choose from on the internet and some stores will offer you free shipping. When pricing leather office chairs online, don't forget to calculate the shipping charges when you are comparing prices. Some web sites offer free shipping, but charge a higher price for the same chair you might be able to get cheaper elsewhere.
