What Is Reverse Osmosis?

Jul 8, 2008
Since this method of purifying water is highly used, we all should know what does reverse osmosis do. In general, it is said that this is the best way of removing harmful metals from our tap water. However, it does not remove only the perilous ones. It also removes the ones that are so necessary for a natural and healthy development.

If reverse osmosis systems remove lead which is the most dangerous metal that can be found in water--it also gets rid of iron (a metal that is very useful for our circulatory system), of calcium (a substance that helps the natural and healthy development and maintenance of our bones), of magnesium (that is the most important stress relieving metal of them all).

When actually finding out what is reverse osmosis, our concern increases. What does reverse osmosis do for our health? Almost nothing, since it stops all the good minerals, but it can stop none of the harmful chemicals. Chlorine is the main chemical that can be found in water. However, since reverse osmosis is a physical process, this chemical can pass through the filter like it was air.

What is reverse osmosis? It is a harmful process. What does reverse osmosis do for the health of my family? It can do almost nothing. Chlorine is a chemical substance that affects mainly the respiratory system. It can cause a wide variety of diseases, from acute bronchitis to esophageal cancer.

A reverse osmosis system is not recommendable, especially if you are already suffering from a chronic respiratory illness, such as asthma. The chlorine in the water is also responsible for the rapid aging of our skin. Imagine what it would be like if you looked at 25 years as if you had 65.

What is reverse osmosis? It is harmful to us, but not only to us. What does reverse osmosis do for the health of the environment? It does nothing. The main drawback in this case is the one of its evacuation method. As you know, for each gallon of clean water it produces, another three are wasted.

Where does this water go, and more essentially where do all the perilous metals go? They all go back into the phreatic sheet. This way, the underground water becomes even more polluted and contaminated. This could be the cause of many ecological disasters.

Now, let me ask you again: what is reverse osmosis and what does reverse osmosis do for us? The answers are simple: a harmful process and nothing. And I am not saying that is harmful only for us and our children. It is also harmful for the children of our children, considering the disproportionate volume of water it wastes.

As we know, there is already a shortage of water on the planet. If we take into account the fact the reverse osmosis wastes more than it produces, let me ask you another final question: what will those that come drink?

As a conclusion, we must say that there I an entire offer of water purifying system that are not based on the reverse osmosis process. The choice is now yours.
