Head Lice Life Cycle - The Facts You Need To Know

The head lice battle seems to be a never ending one, people end up feeling like that they are fighting a cause which they many never win. Combing and killing the little pest does not do the trick, there is more to it than just exterminating the little buggers to kill off the head lice life cycle. The process can take up to a few weeks of daily work just to make sure that they do not return.

How do you solve the head lice life cycle? The first steps in order to win the battle is to research the topic, in this case knowledge is power and you need all the power you can get to get rid of these things. There really is no excuse to allow the life of head lice to continue in your homes and on your body for more then a few weeks if you are truly doing the necessary work that is required to make it all go away.

Where to find help

A couple of places you can find help is your pharmacy, over the counter products are available for ending the head lice life cycle, but many people now are claiming that the lice are becoming immune to those products. Your family doctor may be able to prescribe you something stronger that will help you and your family out. Also there is nothing wrong to seek outside help when it comes to having to deal with the head lice life cycle. Talking with your child's school nurse or with your health care provider will help you get a better understanding of what steps you need to action during this period.

Now that you have medication in hand, there are still plenty of other things that need taken care of. There is a lot of cleaning and storing of certain items in your home that you must do. Washing and drying (with heat) the pillowcases, sheets, nightclothes, towels and stuffed animals may possibly eliminate lice and eggs that might otherwise reinfest a family member. Combs, brushes, hats and other hair accessories in contact with an infested person should be washed in hot water each day to dislodge any lice and nits. And in order to take stop the entire head lice life cycle, you must look through the hair on a daily basis to remove any and all eggs that you find. Because the way the head lice life cycle works, you may find that this process in itself will take about two or three weeks before you stop finding eggs.
