The Symptoms of Ruptured Ovarian Cysts

Jul 15, 2008
Although difficult to understand in some instances, women with ovarian cysts and signs of rupture may simply neglect to consider them any different than the things that happen normally with ovarian cysts. The complications may increase as the ovarian cysts that ruptured may generate different symptoms from one woman to another and be ignored for that very reason. An understanding of the symptoms of ovarian cysts that rupture can be very useful in order to choose the correct treatment before complications arise. To staying vigilant, checking a situation and having routine examinations is critical if you have an ovarian cyst condition. It is therefore crucial that you consider these symptoms to be guidelines and not an exact diagnosis of your condition as symptoms will not necessarily follow textbook rules.

Overview concerning ruptured ovarian cysts

Ovarian cysts are considered to be normal if there is no malignancy. Many women get ovarian cysts which are only identified when an ultrasound examination is done. Information indicates that three out of four women will contract ovarian cysts as some in their life. Most of these cases do not lead to serious complications. As many times ovarian cysts do not display any particular symptoms, they may go unidentified and unmanaged. Yet, the rupture of some ovarian cysts can generate many problems. A first sign of a ruptured ovarian cyst is that something is wrong with your body. The condition should receive immediate medical attention as in some cases it can be fatal. To avoid ruptured ovarian cysts it is necessary to understand your own particular circumstances and to consult the appropriate medical authorities when this condition is diagnosed. It is also necessary for you to understand the symptoms of ovarian cysts that rupture if you are to diagnosis condition by yourself.

The symptoms of ovarian cysts that rupture are almost the same as those of common ovarian cysts. The differences are in the intensity and the frequency of the symptoms of ordinary ovarian cysts and ruptured ovarian cysts. Some frequent symptoms of ruptured ovarian cysts may include:

(1) Menstruation that is irregular: women outside of the teenager age range who still have menstruation that is irregular should be concerned and therefore examined without waiting. Intense pelvic pain during menstruation can also be a reason to be wary and a possible sign of a condition of an ovarian cyst. The absence of periods and also light or very heavy bleeding also falls into the category of irregular menstruation.

(2) Pain: it is a common feature of ruptured ovarian cysts that women will feel pain in the public area and around the thighs. Some may also indicate back pain. Pain is experienced especially before, during and after menstruation. A ruptured ovarian cyst will heighten pain and discomfort and may also generate bleeding. Therefore in the case of abnormal or heightened pain, seek treatment at once.

(3) Uncomfortable intercourse: sexually active women experience considerable pain during intercourse, particularly around the pelvic area.

(4) Problems concerning the bladder: the rupture of an ovarian cyst will stop many women from being able to empty their bladders correctly. A ruptured ovarian cyst may be the cause here because this puts pressure on the platter. Increased pressure on the bladder is therefore the result meaning that women may want to urinate more often.

(5) Bleeding: bleeding when menstruation is not expected is a major cause of concern. Upon a cyst rupturing, bleeding can be light or heavy. Any bleeding incidents that cannot be accounted for should immediately be examined in case of a more serious problem.

(6) General lack of comfort: women may also feel nauseous, have attacks of vomiting or other phenomena connected with poor health. For this, general discomfort can be the first sign of a key problem in the gynaecological status of a woman. Insulin-resistance, vomiting, fainting, nausea and signs similar to pregnancy are all connected with the breaking open of ovarian cysts.

Take note of any such changes and have them examined medically without waiting. You should also keep a close watch on your gynecological condition independently of any signs relating to ovarian cysts that might have ruptured.

Alternatives for treatment

Treating a ruptured ovarian cyst needs to be done according to how intense the problem is and is often on an individual basis. Over the long term, ruptured ovarian cysts can be dangerous. Management should therefore begin as soon as possible to avoid further complications. A holistic approach rather than conventional medicine can be the option which will truly cure ruptured ovarian cysts. The holistic approach can be very effective because it tackles the underlying causes of the problem. In this way, conventional treatment falls short because it only addresses symptoms and not causes, whereas the holistic approach goes beyond the symptoms of ruptured ovarian cysts to treat the condition and to stop it from coming back later.
