Coral Calcium - Japan Sourced Products Are Best

Jul 16, 2008
When used as a dietary supplement, coral calcium is traditionally harvested from coral reefs off the south tip of the island of Japan. Coral reefs are like underwater mountains created from the buildup of minerals, mainly calcium carbonate. Calcium in the reefs is like the glue that holds it all together and when we talk about the best coral calcium, Japan has it won hands down.

Climatic and ecological conditions are the main requirements for the reef to be generated. Under the sea where the temperature is between twenty to thirty degree Celsius, there are more chances that these kind of fully developed reefs exist. These reefs need coral calcium which is provided by the sunlight. Sunlight helps in the survival of the delicate organisms which are a part of required infrastructure. Most of the inhabitants on the reef survive on algae, as it is the basic source of nutrient. So the sunlight becomes more important.

In fact, the coral calcium Japan is famous for comes from a complex ecosystem. The reefs are teeming with life that represent a complicated food chain. The algae and plant life provide food for the herbivorous fish who in turn produce the waste that builds more sections of the reef that the algae grows on.

Corals are part of a group of marine animal kingdom. These marine animals include hydroids, jellyfish, sea anemones, and a special group called Cnidaria of Phylum class. Corals have a large number of tentacles all identical and symmetrically placed all around the body , all tentacles having one common opening to the digestive tract. The Coral polyps are venomous and have stinging cells for their protection. The corals secrete a kind of calcium carbonate which forms the exoskeleton to form a hard outer surface. It is this hard outer surface which protects the soft and venomous coral polyps. These are the living animals who are the reef builders often found in the tropical oceans.

Thousands of species of fungi, fish, sponges and worms make their homes on or near coral reefs, where they're active all hours of the day or night.

The coral calcium Japan based reefs are complex structures. These reefs, teeming with life have a well balanced synergy which plays a key role in giving coral calcium it's vital health benefits.
