Why are Goji berries worth a try?

Jul 21, 2008
Goji Berries are highly nutritious and taste great. They are one of the highest antioxidant foods in the world. A diet high in antioxidants is essential to all people that want a healthy and longer well being life. We are being told that we need more in our daily lives but with most they either taste horrible or they are so hard to take daily if you are on the run or a busy person.

Goji berries can also be used in many ways. In fact if you do a quick google search for "Goji berry recipes" you will find some great recipes showing goji berries being used in all sorts of dishes. They are great for sweet things like goji berry muffins or including them in a fruit crumble. Also they make a great snack just on their own.

This is clearly one of the reasons why goji berries are becoming so popular in the west... they are not only super nutritious, but they can also be consumed in a multitude of different ways.

Goji Berries are grown far up in the Himalayan Mountains and are grown on the border of China and Tibet.

Understanding where Goji berries come from plays an important part in understanding the types of Goji Berries that are being sold. China has a nuclear testing facility close to the Himalayan Mountains and since this is where the Goji Berries come from you need to be assured that the Goji Berries that you are buying are radiation free as well as herbicide and pesticide free.

I originally tried getting my goji berries from local shops, but I now get everything online. It is much easier to find the Tibetan and Organic Goji berries from online websites (and this is really what you are looking for).

Most Goji berries you will find will be very dry. However, if you look hard enough, then you can actually find some that are much stickier and more moist. These soft goji berries are actually packed in China in foil fresh packs before they are shipped to Europe or USA.

Another form of Goji Berries is Goji Juice and Goji drinks. These are particularly popular in USA and Canada (mainly due to a company called Freelife). This could well be worth trying if you feel you might prefer the juice to the actual berries themselves.

Other "superfoods" that are often mentioned in the same breath as Goji berries are that such as acai, spirulina and mangosteen. But companies promoting these sort of products often do so in a very aggressive and misleading way, so act with caution and don't pay attention to too many medical claims.
