The Benefits Of Feeding Your Dogs Quality Dog Food

Jul 23, 2008
If you decide to take the extra steps to feed your dog nothing but the best dog foods, a lot more benefits would open up to you and your dog. Obviously their health will be in top form as well as their energy levels so they will be able to perform better to even the way they look. The only thing you will pay a lot more going this route.

Don't you think your dog deserves to be treated as well as you treat yourself? Some of us feel they should be treated better. The cheaper the food is, the worse it is for them to eat on a daily basis. Many veterinarians have compared most of these commercially advertised dog foods to serving family and friends chopped up boxes with brown gravy. Sure their appetite will be filled, but the vitamins and minerals they need will just not be there. Be assured that once your dog becomes adjusted to the lower calories, and basic nutritional needs, he/she will most likely eat a lot less of the \"good stuff\", instead of gobbling up mass quantities of the other brands, (as most dogs tend to do).

Your friend will be happier, his bowel movements will regulate, his fur will shine like never before, and when he looks up at you with his clear, beautiful eyes, you will just know that these benefits far outweigh the few extra dollars that have been spent. There are many high quality dog foods to choose from that can help you achieve this. Also, there are plenty of websites that offer numerous \"home made\" recipes that your dog is sure to love.

Most dogs tend to be allergic to the lower grade ingredients found in cheap dog food. Once you switch to the higher quality food , you will notice that your dog now tends to scratch less and they will not shed as much as before. A lot of breeds are prone to yeast developing in their ears but if your dog is healthy they will not be prone to this. Their bodies will be able to heal a lot faster after having surgery, accident or just a simple procedure.

Believe it or not, they will actually learn quicker as well. Isn't your mind and body more in tune when you feed yourself well, instead of starving, or living on a diet of \"junk food\"? It is the same with our dogs. A high quality dog food will improve their minds as well as their bodies.

I adopted our dog after he was hit by a huge truck. Luckily he wasn't hurt too terribly. He was dropped off at a nearby shelter by his owner, who discarded him because \"he will never be the same\". After we had taken him home, we decided to keep feeding him the food that the shelter recommended. After all, he seemed to like it well enough. He kept itching and scratching at some raw patches on his leg, and we just assumed he must have \"gotten something\" at the kennel. I brought him back to the shelter to show them and to ask what could be done. They gave me a topical ointment, and said \"this should clear it right up\". After a few weeks of applying the medication, the raw spots were still there, and the poor thing kept on itching and scratching. He was also having many watery bowel movements, and I was worried. I finally took him to the Vet, and she said \"he isn't getting enough protein in his diet\". She then recommended a bit of a higher quality dog food, (one of the expensive ones). I was prepared to go broke, oh yes, did I mention my dog is an 180 pound Saint Bernard? To my astonishment, his rashes got better almost immediately, some were almost gone!

The best results came when I bought the higher quality dog food. And after a few weeks he was almost completely healed. His ears even stopped itching, and his fur is so much softer and shinier. He has gained almost 50 pounds, and he has become the sweetest gigantic dog I have ever had.

I truly believe that, what you give is what you get. We all need a good diet, and so do our furry friends. It is necessary to care and to respect every aspect of their needs. Not to do so is extremely neglectful, and uncaring, and a terrible, terrible shame.
