Durham NC Hotels Delight Tourists and Business Travelers Alike

Aug 17, 2007
As a city that has been undergoing quite a boom in tourism, the Durham, North Carolina hotels have recently been stepping up the service to keep up with the competition. This has resulted in a town environment that is perfect for the average visitor. You can expect your hotel stay to be pleasant and relaxing, whether you are in town for business or if you are just seeing the local sights of Durham, NC.

The Durham Hilton hotel is one of the hotels that has undergone the most extreme renovation in the past several years. It is a mere 3 miles from the airport, so it is one of the more convenient hotels to reach once your plane arrives. Along with the standard fare of hotel rooms, each one has two double line phones, voicemail, and high speed wireless internet access (although this is not for free as with most of the other options). It is one of the more comfortable choices to sleep in while you are staying in a Durham, NC hotel.

Right next door to this hotel, you will find the Marriot Inn. Not only does it have an indoor whirlpool and sauna, but also a large health club for exercising, an indoor pool, and a jogging trail. You can get in shape while you're not in meetings or seeing the local sights. The hotel has a restaurant on the lower level, which has a large menu full of delicious items. Unlike the Durham Hilton hotel, this one offers wireless internet access at no extra cost. This is definitely a plus, especially since this hotel is less expensive. So if you have a laptop and wish to access the internet, this hotel could be a good choice.

The Sheraton Imperial hotel in Durham, North Carolina is one of the more high class hotels that you can choose. It was designed with business in mind, so if you are looking for a Durham, NC hotel for a business trip then this could be the hotel for you. Along with high speed wireless internet access and data ports, the rooms offer spacious work areas and ironing for your suits. The hotel also rents out meeting rooms if you need to conduct your business from the hotel.

A good choice for families visiting Durham, North Carolina could be the Wingate Inn hotel. If you have several kids, you will find that the free continental breakfast is a great way to save money if you are on a tight budget. Each hotel room has a refrigerator and a microwave, so if you are staying in Durham, NC for a few weeks then you'll be able to stock up on groceries and not have to worry about them spoiling. This can be a great convenience for families who don't want to eat out for every meal.

The final hotel option in Durham, North Carolina that I will be discussing is the Wyndham Garden Hotel. It is located right in the heart of Durham, NC, and if you are in town to visit the downtown area then this is the hotel for you. You can get downtown in a matter of minutes, and start to see all of the nice shops and restaurants that Durham is famous for. This hotel is very affordable, and offers all of the standard hotel amenities.

Ultimately, your hotel choice will depend on what exactly you want to do in Durham, North Carolina. If you are in town on a business trip and need to discuss important matters, then your hotel choice will be vastly different than if you are a sightseeing family of 5. Hopefully this short outline of some of the more prominent hotel choices has helped you in making your decision.
