How to Play Piano

By Leo Prenev

Music is a way of life for many people. Without the joy and sound of music, life as people know it, would be completely different. Think of all the music you hear on any one particular day, whether on TV, radio, commercials, etc... Some listen to music for enjoyment while others try to make it their living.

The piano is one of the most widely recognized instruments around the world. Many countries and nations use this instrument in their music, and if you want to learn how to play the piano, all you need is some dedication and interest.

If you want one on one attention, I would advise you to find a decent piano teacher in your local area. A good way of doing this is through browsing the local newspaper or online classifieds.

Online piano lessons are also possible. Details and information about the piano, its features, musical keys, etc are presented. Many online sites even have live videos to teach the users. Most of these music lessons are offered for free. Whatever the mode of learning, buying a piano is imperative as one can practice the lessons when free at home.

Once you take up music classes, it is necessary that you do your part and keep on top of the practice. By not practicing throughout the week, you will see a drop in skill and ultimately, a drop in self-confidence.

Some common terms used while playing the instrument are the pitch and the octave. Pitch denotes the piano notes according to its high or low sound. When the key is stuck and the sound produced it is either in high or low frequency. Note that the lowest frequency notes are situated to the far left of the piano and as you move to the right the frequency of the music notes increases.

The term octave refers to the twelve keys placed in intervals. Though they might have the same musical value and they might sound the same they have different frequencies. Seven octaves are present in a normal piano which means that there will be seven sets of seven notes situated in the piano.

It doesn't matter if you want to play piano for a hobby, or whether you want to do it for a living. Practice is what will take you that extra mile and give you the enjoyment for a lifetime.
