Avoid These Mistakes If You're Serious About Losing Weight

Jul 26, 2008
Gaining weight is not difficult for most people to do. As Jake La Matta in "Ragging Bull", Robert DeNiro gained over fifty pounds. You almost don't recognize him in the movie because of all the extra weight, what's more is that he found it very difficult to lose the weight once he put it on.

If gaining weight is so easy, losing it should be easy too. Nice thought, but no so. It should be as simple as reducing calories you take in to lose pounds, isn't it?

1. Commitment

You have to be fully committed on any weight loss program. You have to follow through with whatever diet plan you choose.

Most healthy diet plans are built around a formula of certain foods that create a weight diet plan creates. These diet plans are meant to be adhered to in order for them work and be effective.

If you are not committed you will not lose weight because this will result in cheating and this is a huge mistake.

You are not going to lose weight if you cheat. You are only cheating on yourself if you cheat on your diet; also, once your determination has been broker, you are not on your goal path anymore. Commitment comes from deep inside and needs to be an earnest desire from deep within yourself. Trying to lose weight for someone else spells doom from the word go, weight loss can only be done for yourself.

2. Finding Support

If you do not have emotional support with your weight loss plan, this is a big mistake. Everyone needs the support of others. One of the main reasons that people stay committed and on track with their diets is because of others encouraging them and rooting for them to stay in the game. Misery loves company. Joining a good weight loss forum and finding others that are working out their own diets wouldn't be a bad idea. The main idea is finding others to support your efforts.

3. Going to the Extreme

Being committed to your weight loss diet is admirable. But it would be a mistake to go over this edge by overdoing it. Push too hard and you might cause more harm than good. Then you are right back where you started.

Don't starve yourself. Starvation diets are not healthy for anyone. Most people fail in the attempts and are right back at square one.

Exercising is excellent and if it's part of your diet be careful not to overdo it. If you are not used to jogging, you can't go out for a 10 mile run, work up to it as a goal.

Take the time to mentally prepare for your weight loss plan. Choose the right diet for you and be committed to your task at hand. Stay optimistic about this and realize that this will take some time to see the new you. Become inspired!

Before starting you have to prepare yourself mentally, if you haven't as yet, do it now.
