Although there are far worse, far more deadly skin conditions than acne, it is still such a major problem to millions of people. In fact, acne has become such a problem that many people have come to believe that acne can only be cured by elaborate, complicated and expensive procedures and products. But really, the best acne cures are quite simple.

The most effective acne treatment is actually a little modification of your hygiene habits. Most importantly, keep your skin clean. Wash your skin when you wake up in the morning, and again before you sleep at night. Now, this may not work for some people and they may further this simple technique in order to get rid of their acne, like washing their face more times than twice a day. Or using the newest exfoliating products and new formula toners.

Excessive washing with the most promising products does not assure a cure for acne, either. For one thing, washing the face repeatedly aggravates the skin and your pores, stripping the skin of necessary oils. When the skin is dry, it naturally makes more oil, and your acne problem will actually worsen with the additional oil your body produces. The regular use of exfoliating products, that is facial cleansers with granules of ground seeds of various plants, will also contribute to your new dry flakiness.

Clogging of the skin and pores are usually caused by dead skin and sebum. Furthermore the condition is worsened by lack of sleep, bacteria, stress and poor nourishment. Therefore the issue is not only a one of filth on the skin and random scrubbing away of dirt on the skin is not advisable. It has been proven that washing twice a day before bed and when you wake up will have the best effect on your skin. If you are already washing your skin twice a day but still have problem you might be doing something else that is magnifying the problem.

For example, your environment may not be clean enough. Given that your pores are clogged and easily irritably, sleeping on dirty, bacteria-laden sheets and pillows may cultivate more acne overnight. Also, when you sweat in your dusty habitat, your open pores will trap bacteria mixed with your sweat and cause back pimples, among other inconvenient places.

Another thing you could be doing wrong is not have a proper diet. While eating oily food does not cause acne, nutritional deficiencies may help trigger acne. One of the most effective acne treatments is to drink lots of water - it helps cleanse the system and purify toxins you may have been accumulating over time.

Another enemy is stress and that is aggravated by bad nutrition, unhealthy lifestyle and lack of sleep. It has not been proven that stress causes acne but it has been proven that a good night's sleep every night works wonders for your skin.

Aside from these remedies, there are products that do work in clearing up acne. Some of the best acne cures on the market include tea tree oil, aloe vera, vitamins A and E, and zinc. And don't forget to wash your face when you wake up, and again before going to sleep!
