How to Teach your Kids about Personal Hygiene

Jul 28, 2008
Kids need to learn at a very young age that personal hygiene is an important part of our daily lives. There are several steps that you as a parent need to take to ensure that your kids know how to care for their personal hygiene and how to maintain good personal hygiene.

You should start working with your kids early on in their lives. There are many products on the market that are gears especially for children and their personal hygiene. There items make caring for a child's personal hygiene fun and exciting for kids. Try buying items that are not only interesting but intriguing to your children.

Personal hygiene is also an important part of the work place. People who are in the work force need to maintain their personal hygiene in order to prevent the spread of disease, germs and contaminants that could affect others who work in the same place. Workers who maintain their personal hygiene also will reduce their risk of being exposes to contaminants, chemicals and will also be able to avoid certain skin conditions that could develop from poor personal hygiene.

Personal hygiene should start at home first. Every morning when you get up make sure to shower. During this shower you should wash your entire body with an antibacterial soap. This will kill any bacteria or germs that have begun to grow on your body.

Yet another thing you can do to maintain your personal hygiene and also to increase the appeal of your appearance is to make sure you wear clean clothing every day. Wash your clothing in a fresh smelling detergent that will also get your clothes clean. People sweat and perspire every day and your clothing is what soaks up this wetness and smell. You don't want to wear clothing that smells like you ran a marathon in it. Also whatever you do don't try to cover up the smell with cologne or perfume, that will only make things worse.

Don't forget to brush your hair at least once a day. If you do not brush your hair you will notice that you will get knots and things that will cause your hair to become greasy and oily giving it an unclean appearance. After a few days of not washing your hair you and others around you will also begin to smell an odor coming from your unclean hair.

The most susceptible people to germs, bacteria and infections are children. They have less of an immune system and there for need to learn the proper way to care for their personal hygiene. By teaching them the correct way and encouraging them to do the things that are needed in order to care for their personal hygiene you are helping to keep them from getting sick.

Don't forget that personal hygiene is more than just taking it a shower it is also maintaining yourself through out the day. Wash your hands regularly and brush your teeth after every meal to maintain your personal hygiene all day long.
