Bad Breath Remedies

Jul 30, 2008
Brushing your teeth is one of the common bad breath remedies. By brushing, I don't mean a quick dab with a toothbrush, followed by a quick rinse. I mean a vigorous attack with a firm toothbrush primed with toothpaste. I want you brushing every one of your teeth, front and back, from the gum line on the bottom of your teeth on up to the tip.

Flossing also is a bad breath remedy, but is not used as frequently as brushing. Today almost all of us use a toothbrush, but flossing just is not as popular with people. We just won't floss our teeth as often as we brush our teeth. Flossing once daily is as much as we seem to be able to manage.

An effective bad breath remedy is to brush your tongue. All you have to do is use your toothbrush. If you want to have better results, you should use either a tongue brush, a tongue scraper or a tongue cleaner. Few people think about using those.

You probably know of mouthwash as a bad breath remedy. Since it is easy and quick, and costs little, it has become very popular. You can locate mouthwash in virtually any supermarket or drug store. There are three basic types of mouthwash. In order to combat bad breath, it is best if you buy a mouthwash that is antibacterial in nature. The other two types of mouthwash are fluoride mouthwashes that are designed to improve your tooth enamel and re-mineralizing mouthwashes that are designed to fix any lesions that are in your mouth.

The Listerine brand, with its well-known golden color, is the most popular mouthwash. You probably can locate a mouthwash in a satisfactory flavor, particularly if you prefer the popular mint or peppermint tastes. Mouthwashes presently appear in lots of different colors, so you have many choices.

The cheapest remedy for bad breath is water. No, it is not quite as effective as a mouthwash. However, water works well because moisture kills the bacteria living inside of your mouth. The wetness produced destroys the bacteria's best area for breeding.

Many people will combat their bad breath by using a flavored chewing gum. The gum comes with a mint, cinnamon or fruit taste. If that is your choice to fight bad breath, then I recommend that you select a gum with chlorophyll or the Wrigley's Eclipse gum, which includes magnolia bark extract. The magnolia bark extract has been one of the traditional Chinese bad breath remedies forever.

Now there are people who try to use breath strips and breath mints as a remedy for their bad breath. The most-popular brands today would be Altoids and Certs. These products, like flavored chewing gum, will not serve as real bad breath remedies. But at least they can disguise your bad breath problem for at least a bit of time, which might be all that you need.
