Blogging Tips: Social Networking That Will Get Your Blog Noticed

Jul 31, 2008
When you have a blog the biggest challenge that you face is getting readers for your blog. Because there are millions of blogs on the Web it can be hard to find people that share your interests and would be interested in your blog. But, you can use blog social networking to get your blog noticed by people with similar interests.

What is Blog Social Networking?

Social networking is most often used to describe sites like MySpace, Facebook and Friendster where people sign up, create profiles and blogs, and then add other people on the network as Friends who can see their information and read their blogs. But there are also social networking sites that are collections of blogs. So instead of registering and creating a profile when you sign up with these blog social networking sites you register your blog and you can join communities that are specifically made up of people that share your interests.

For example, if your blog is all about your love of photography and how you are learning to become a photographer you can join a blog community of other photographers in a blog social networking site and then the people that read the other blogs in that community will also find your blog. Blog social networking is a new and innovative way to find the people that are interested in the same things that you are and get your blog in front of them. You can also comment on and read other people's blogs which will help drive traffic to your own blog.

Is Blog Social Networking Better than Social Networking?

That depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If your goal is send visitors to your website then you might have more success with a traditional social network like MySpace or Facebook. But if your goal is to get readers to visit your blog, or sell products off your blog, then blog social networking will give you more results for the time that you put in because you use a traditional social networking site people might or might not leave that site to go view your blog. However in a blog social networking group people will automatically see your blog so they don't have to leave the site to see it. That can make a big difference in how much traffic you get to your blog and whether or not those people are loyal readers.
