There are a number of definitions floating around on the internet that can help define the many aspects of marketing that is used in the virtual world. Here, I will provide you with a sample internet marketing glossary that details some of the main marketing terms that you will need to become familiar with when advertising your products and/or services online.

Organization

The first thing that you will notice when using an online internet marketing glossary is the organization method. This is necessary in order to keep all of the main marketing terms in some sort of order. There are some glossaries that will organize by topic, while others will organize by alphabetical order. Generally, if you click on a letter that is listed on a glossary page, it will direct you to a page that has definitions that start with that letter. Let's say that we want to look for something on "Affiliate Marketing" because we just found a wonderful website that allows affiliates to earn 50% commission on selling DVD's online. What we would need to do is click on the letter "A". A new page will then appear and it may look something like this:

As you can see, the only things that you can see are the actual marketing terms. However, if you were to place your mouse over the marketing term of "Affiliate" and clicked on it, a new page would open up. On the new page, you may see something much like the following:

A person is considered to be an affiliate when they are in a position to advertise and promote another person's products, services, and/or ideas. If a person that was promoted to ends up purchasing these ideas, services, or products, then the person who is acting as the affiliate will actually earn a certain percentage from the sale. This sale is often referred to as the "commission".

There are many different benefits associated with becoming an affiliate. They are as follows:

1. You do not need to supply the products or services that are being sold, as they are already created.
2. No amount of space is required in order to store what is being sold.
3. As an affiliate you can enjoy working for yourself on your own terms.
