My Big Fat Loss Secret

On and off I've tried many weight loss diets, until finally there were some things that made sense to me. I couldn't stick to any of them for more than a few days, I was lousy at weight loss diets. I would always find an excuse to break free.

I used to envy the people who could start a diet and stay on it, and I commended them for following them and making the diet plans work for them, but I don't envy them any more.

I had an epiphany about myself one day. I could lose weight and not be on a diet. The secret to my fat loss was using my common sense and making some changes in my lifestyle. Let's face it, anything new requires some change.

1. Learn to eat more snack size meals throughout the day.

Many years my doctor told me to eat more often but smaller portions because I am hypoglycemic. I didn't bother, because hamburgers & fries, pizza and beer were the things I loved.

No I eat 5 small meals a day, instead of the two I used to eat. Now I don't feel hungry all the time and my body functions better because I'm losing more weight.

2. Eat the type of food you like

If all you like is pancakes and chocolate bars you will not lose weight.

A large part of following diet plans require you to stop eating a lot of the foods you enjoy. Of course, it makes sense because you put on the weight from eating the foods you love. So now it makes sense to stop eating these foods and you will lose weight. But this is not the only answer! Why can't you still eat your favorite foods and still lose weight?

You can if you regulate what you eat and how often you eat it.

A large part of my fat loss secret is still eating my favorite foods but being sensible about it. Because I love junk food, I have to limit my intake to only a couple of times a week, but this is not killing me.

3. Good Nutrition

I had to adapt and learn that proper nutrition was very important and that good, nutritional food wad not only low in calories but also good for me. Basically eating healthy food that is good for me.

4. Some exercise

It has to be aerobic type exercising. It makes your whole body stronger and gets your metabolism into high gear. 25 minutes per session at least 4 times a week. This is the biggest key to staying trim and losing weight.

You are going to have a hard time losing weight if you don't like exercising. Power walking, riding a bike, jogging, running and swimming are excellent aerobic exercises, but there are other things you can do, but you have to like it. If it means dragging somebody along, so be it.

My weight loss secret is using a combination of the above and just doing it. I didn't' know in the beginning if I was just fooling myself into another diet.

Well, it's been working now for at least 7 years. It was all about breaking my bad eating habits and not stuffing myself. With a little common sense, anyone can lose weight and keep it off.
