A lot of people are already familiar with what multi-level marketing is all about. The only way to get rich in this game is to have a lot of people under one's umbrella and then just wait for the sales commissions to come in.

Is it easy? Not always but by knowing the ins and outs, anyone with the determination can succeed. Here are a few steps that must be taken when engaging in MLM.

1. The first people the agent will normally turn to are friends and family members. There is nothing wrong with starting with those the are close to the person but the chances of recruiting someone are very slim.

The best thing these people can do is refer friends and other people who may be interested in investing and making money in MLM.

In order to be successful in MLM, the agent must not stop there. This is the time to get out of the comfort zone and concentrate on the market by looking for people who are willing to exert the same amount of effort given the chance. This is the time to use the leads to recruit these individuals who also want to be rich and successful.

2. The next step will be to turn past customers into members. Surely, these people appreciate the product that was sold before and will surely like to earn some money by referring this also to friends.

3. It is really hard to follow leads and referrals. The best way to get possible prospects will be to approach lead generation agencies. These companies can create a good downline and thus let the business reach new heights.

4. Business thrive because of technology. Given that the equipment is readily available, the person should use it to advertise the product. This can be in the form of pop up ads, a website or just an email that will be sent to one individual then forwarded to those that are interested.

5. The agent won't earn $10,000 a month overnight. It is best to be patient and to keep on trying because a customer who may not be interested now might want to get it a few months later. This means keeping a list of names and them making follow up calls.

6. The last step will be make plans for the short term and the long term. Perhaps the market is saturated so this will be a good time to think about introducing it elsewhere. There are so many what if's and should the sales be slow and being one step ahead will give the individual a better chance against the competition.

The amount of money that a person earns in multi-level marketing is dependent on the number of recruits. After getting one and having this individual do the same, there could be more than 4,000 people after just 12 months.

Following these steps to succeed in multi-level marketing is not a guarantee that it will be a walk in the park. The person will still have to work hard because some recruits will only stick around for three or five months and just give up.

This means the individual will have to find replacements to fill that umbrella and be careful next time in finding people for this type of business.
