Melt and Pour Soap Making: What You Need to Know

If you are planning to make soaps at home then the best possible method is the melt and pour soap making. There are various types of melt and pour soap making kits are available at the stores.

There are few steps that you need to follow before you start making soaps at home. The initial task is to gather all the required materials from the market and then use them in a proper method to make soaps in this particular way.

Collect Materials for Melt and Pour Soap Making

First of all find out an authentic recipe for soap making in the melt and pour method. This recipe should be the best and easy one that has to be cost effective and success rate with that is almost hundred percent.

Now it is not really tough to find out one as there are many stores who sell the ingredients of soap making bas well as the recipes. These are also available in books and on the web. You need to make a list before hopping around the market to buy the essential materials for melt and pour soap making.

The best lists can be made when you are holding the recipe in hand. The general raw materials that you require for this type of soap making are soap molds, soap base chips, additives and fragrance. If you are looking forward to making colorful soaps then buy some artificial colors of your choice.

Procedure of Melt and Pour Soap Making

You can start of with melting the soap base, which can be done in a microwave or a double boiler. Now if you are using a microwave for this purpose then cover the container with a wrap so that the moisture does not get evaporated.

Keep stirring the remaining un-melted chips of bases after frequent intervals. If it is a double boiler that you are using then simply add the melt and pour base in boiling water and just keep an eye on it. Once the soap base is completely melted you can add the fragrance oil of your choice and keep stirring it till the time it becomes clear.

The color can be added around 1/4 teaspoon while the base is melting. But make sure you are not using excess amount of color as it will stain your hands. Once all the steps are completed successfully you can pour it in the molds in the liquid state.

In order to avoid the bubbles, you need to spray some rubbing alcohol on it. Your soap is ready to use when it becomes settle and hard after a few hours. Making soap in this particular method is also helpful if you wish to start a homemade soap business.
