Interior Design: Vacation at Home With a Staycation

Aug 5, 2008
The new idea in Orange County, California, is to stay at home and enjoy our weather, our surroundings, our places to visit and our home.

With a resort-like atmosphere, Southern California is home to some of the luckiest people in the world. Everything you could want is right at your fingertips.

While many people today are staying home for their vacations, why not make your home the "5 Star Resort" you may have gone to and spent your hard-earned dollars on. Instead of putting those funds into a short-lived experience, stay home and make your home the place to be (and all the while creating something you can enjoy again and again).

Entertaining has never been easier. We can call out and have catered dinners, luncheons and even brunches. We can call out for a masseuse or an esthetician to come right to our homes to give us a massage or facial. We work hard and we deserve anything we want. Read a good book, go to the local concerts or a play. With gas and airfares going up and the hassle and bustle of it all, it makes perfect sense to have a staycation.

Californians are always saying we are not home enough. We need more time at home to enjoy each other, renew relationships and just do things in our own time.

Sit back, take a deep breath and realize that time passes quickly. Children eventually leave home, friends sometimes move ... these are precious times not to be lost. Make your home into that luxurious abode that all the important people in your life will appreciate as much as you will.

Remember how exhausted you were when you returned from your last vacation? Sometimes it hardly seems worth the effort and expense.

Why not check out the service of a professional interior designer for some terrific creative ideas? What would it be like to walk into your bath in the morning to find a resort-style spa instead of the boring tile, tired towels and tiny shower? And what if your living room were full of eclectic furnishings that invite you to relax or entertain at a whim?

Why not consider making your own, innovative vacation plans now? Consider what you like to do, the people you love spending time with. Make your home the oasis it can be.
