Making Fitness A Daily Habit Has Rewards

Aug 7, 2008
I believe it can be any of the above and more, totally depending upon the circumstances. I am a people watcher and am always astounded on the unhealthiness I observe in people both physically and mentally. In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, one must examine themselves for areas that could be improved to become a healthy person. No one can do that for you. It must be done by a firm commitment and it takes a lot of work.

The first thing to is look in a mirror and take a look at yourself. What is it that you want to accomplish? Do you need to change your entire way of living to accomplish this goal or can you set just one goal? The very first thing I whole-heartily believe in is to eat better.

There is an adage that says, you are what you eat and I find this very true. If you eat well, you will atomically feel better about yourself. You are nourishing your body, which in turn, nourishes your mind. Healthy foods, such as lots of vegetables and fruits will help. Cut back on the red meat. Instead, eat more fish and chicken.

Your body needs a lot of water, especially when we get older. It will help maintain a good skin tone. As we age, we will naturally develop wrinkles and the skin loses the elasticity it once had and drinking at least eight glasses of water a day will help with this condition of slackness. This I have observed on my own body. You will also note that if you replace that snack you want with water instead, your appetite will decrease.

What's really happening when you feel the urge to eat is that your stomach is calling out for something then your brain 'tells' you 'put something in there', will you and you head for the refrigerator. Try water instead. A sensible is always helpful.

That covers diet, now what about the mind? Find an exercise or activity that you enjoy. One of the easiest is to walk. You don't have to be a marathon runner. Just get out there and move. There is another adage I could use here and it is use it or lose it. This is so true. The lazier we get, the easier it is to just sit. Try devoting a set amount of time to set aside to do whatever your body is capable of doing.

Even the busiest mother who may be overwhelmed with chores and children can find time right at home to do some exercises. Take some time for quiet meditation. Let your body just relax and release all thoughts of stressful things that have happened during the day.

It may be easier said than done, but find just one thing that helps you relax like taking a hot bath and get some good sleep. Avoid stressful situations as much as possible and most of all, be good to yourself. You deserve it.
