Aug 8, 2008
Fayetteville, AK has won more accolades as being "one of the best" than most cities can claim. For being a relatively small city - population under 70,000 - it certainly has earned a reputation. It is a reputation one can bank on if you're considering Fayetteville to be your new home.

In 2008, Fayetteville earned the 7th place position for Kiplinger's "Best Cities to Work, Live and Play". Forbes named it the eighth "Best Metro" in its 2007 "Best Places for Business and Careers". Money Magazine listed in Fayetteville in their "Best Places to Live in America". Fayetteville has been named one of America's Most Livable Cities twice. It is also listed in the guide, 50 Fabulous Places to Retire in America.

That's a lot of hype, but Fayetteville won't disappoint you, the real estate owner. With the powerful University of Arkansas Razorbacks in its midst, you'll have plenty of sports and education. Surrounded by inspiring and stunning historic houses, it's a real estate owner's dream.

For the Fayetteville real estate owner and resident, the area is resplendent in the lush and fabulous Ozark mountains, trails, lakes, and rivers. Finding things to do won't be a problem. Highly abundant in arts, museums, music, and rich in Civil War history and lore, you'll have plenty to experience. Abundant in an active and diverse nightlife of Downtown Fayetteville and Dickson Street, you'll be constantly pleased and grateful to live in one the "best" places in America.

A Little Fayetteville History

After the Arkansas Territory was created in 1819, not much happened until George McGarrah and his family became Fayetteville's first real estate owners at what is now Spring Street and Willow Avenue. In 1829, after being called Washington Courthouse, the town became Fayetteville.

By the time of the Civil War, Fayetteville was a full-fledged city and included Arkansas College, the Ozark Institute, and the Fayetteville Female Institute, thus beginning its commitment to education. In 1862, Confederate forces burned all the commercial buildings, stores, and vacant houses to the ground. Several battles were fought within the streets of Fayetteville during the Civil War, but the citizen's rallied on and didn't let the city fall.

Fayetteville kept building and expanding its real estate, taking pride in its education, community, and fairness and has evolved as a rich and diverse city that still prides itself in education, edification, and enlightenment. Maybe that's why it keeps verifying that it is truly one of the best places to live and one sure bet for a new or transitioning real estate owner.
