The Truth About Products For Hair Loss

Aug 9, 2008
Before knowing the truth about products for hair loss you need to first know about why we lose hair in the first place. In reality, we all lose around a hundred strands of hair on a daily basis. This is a natural process in which pieces of hair at the end of their growth cycle will eventually fall out and be replaced by new ones. Unfortunately though, some individuals experience hair loss at a much greater pace.

Hormones, specifically testosterone, makes hair follicles get smaller and the scalp membranes consequentially toughen up. As a result, blood circulation becomes poor and new hair will not have the capacity to substitute other hair that's already gone. Because males have more testosterone than females, men are more likely to have obvious signs of hair loss.

Another cause of hair loss is taking certain medical treatments. Radiation, chemotherapy, blood thinners and birth control pills are some examples. A sudden switch in diet, an overdose of vitamin A, an imbalance in hormone levels, and certain health conditions like fungal infections and hypothyroidism can also cause hair loss.

Other reasons for hair loss include emotional stress and tension in the scalp, which is likely to occur while wearing taut ponytails, braids and rollers, and using chemical treatments.

Now that you're more familiar with some truths about hair loss, familiarize yourself with the products for hair loss. The ingredients placed on packages should combat the main contributing factors of hair loss. Specific vitamins like vitamin E, vitamin B6, amino acids, Zing and biotin are considered to be quite beneficial. These can repair present hair so that it is in its top form again, however, they aren't designed to bring back hair where hair has already dropped off. What they do is make existing hair visibly stronger and healthier.

If your budget permits it you can try other treatments that particularly target hair loss. These include supplements or topical treatments. The most well-known product available as a hair loss treatment is Rogaine. Certainly, one shouldn't search for a miracle of some sort. Even though Rogaine is the best hair loss product, results still differ among users. But you do have lots of choices. You can use natural processes including having a healthy diet and exercise regimen as well as techniques in minimizing stress.

Evaluate products based on your personal experience, scientific support and testimonials. Personal experience will come from analyzing products you've tried before and comparing them with products you haven't tried yet. If you want scientific support, find out what current studies are indicating and if conclusions are convincing enough. Finally, see if people have actually experienced good results by using certain products. You can visit discussion forums, scan through customer reviews and compare before and after pictures.

When evaluating a product find out if claims are realistic, if the product offers good value for your money, and if there are harsh side effects. Remember to ask about delivery speed as well, as male patter baldness is something that progresses over time. There are many products for hair loss, so choose one that works best for your individual needs.
