Some FAQs About The Rehab Program In Louisiana

Aug 11, 2008
These are some commonly asked questions when people are searching for an option on a rehab program in Louisiana. The answers are general; they are applicable to all treatment centers in particular though each rehab program in Louisiana is bound to have some deviations and changes form these general points.

Q1. What is the main intention of the rehab program in Louisiana?

Though rehab treatment in some parts of the world means to get people from a high level of dependency to a comparatively lower level of dependency that can even be termed as healthier, the rehab program in Louisiana follows a different objective. Here the main intention is to bring the patient to a complete nonuse of the addictive substance. Though this seems to be quite difficult, this is what rehab centers in Louisiana achieve with their elaborate treatment programs.

Q2. Why is there an intervention program included in the rehab program in Louisiana?

One of the things that need to be remembered about the addiction scenario in Louisiana is that no one who is with an addiction in the state will enter into a treatment program voluntarily. There is always a need of intervention, either from the agency of the person's own family and friends or through a professional interventionist. In any case, these intervention programs use all their skills to bring patient into a rehab program.

It has been observed that several people develop a second denial phase when they are put into a substance abuse rehab program in Louisiana. This is the reason why a second intervention program becomes important. This denial will not be quite as strong as the previous one because the patient has already been convinced once before. At this point, it is necessary to build the patient's confidence in the treatment program so that he or she becomes agreeable to go through the treatment. During this secondary intervention program, only the family of the patient is enough to coax the person into accepting treatment. They may work under the guidance of an intervention specialist provided by the rehab center itself.

Q3. Why is a detox treatment important in the rehab program in Louisiana?

The main objective of the detox treatment is to cleanse the body completely from the accumulated toxins in it that have entered it due to the person's addiction. This is very important from the addiction treatment point of view. As long as these substances will remain in the body of the person, the person will never fully recover because the substance present in the body will invariably create a craving for more of the same. Also, there are various health complications that need to be considered. In some cases, it has been seen that health complications can occur even years after the patient has given up the addiction if the body has not been detoxified to remove the presence of the addictive substance in it.

Q4. What are the main elements of the rehab program in Louisiana?

There are three main elements in the Louisianan rehab program. The first part is the intervention which becomes quite important because people who are enrolled into treatment centers will soon develop denials and then the treatment centers will have to work with the families of these patients to bring them out of the denial and accept treatment. The second part is the detoxification where the person's body is purged of all the toxins present due to the addiction. This can be a very long process, depending on what kind of withdrawal the person faces. If the addiction is not quite intense, then a detox can be done over with even in as little as three days.

Once the detox is completed, the patient is sent through an aftercare program. Here the patient will be counseled in various ways so that he or she can curb the temptation for using any more of the substance. Relapse prevention is a very important part of this phase. The patient may also be taught some holistic therapies that would help in keeping the temptations away.

Q5. What must be considered when looking for a rehab program in Louisiana?

Be sure to read the program that the treatment center will employ quite thoroughly. The program has to be acceptable to your needs and preferences. Also make sure that you check up on their licenses. They have to be licensed for the particular form of treatment you are looking for. The healthcare personnel must be well experienced and qualified too. Take a look also at the features the rehab program will provide.
