Lose Weight: How the Glycemic Index Can Help?

Proteins give you energy and are needed for your body to manufacture hormones, antibodies, enzymes, and tissues. Your body cannot live without certain essential amino acids found in proteins. They are called essential because your body needs them to function properly, and it cannot manufacture them on its own. You need a regular dose of the essential amino acids in your diet. When you eat a protein, your digestive system breaks these proteins down into amino acids. As food travels through the gastrointestinal tract, your stomach and small intestine excrete enzymes that break the food down so the nutrients can be absorbed into the blood stream.

Your body uses protein as a raw material in the creation of numerous products that are critical for your health. After your digestive system converts the protein into amino acids, they flow through a large vein, called the protal vein, into the liver. The liver then passes the amino acids into the bloodstream which distributes them to tissues. Your body's tissues, such as muscles and organs, select and store the amino acids they specifically need. They are used to synthesize new tissue or to maintain or repair existing tissue. Some of the amino acids are used to synthesize certain hormones and enzymes that are themselves critical to having your body function optimally and to letting you release fat stores. All of these processes are governed by the genetic intelligence encoded in each cell.

The liver gets involved in the protein digestion process in several critical ways. It converts amino acids that are used by the tissues into other building blocks of the body. It synthesizes amino acids into fibrinogen, the substance used in the blood to form a clot; purines, a class of protein that provides energy; creatine, an energy source for muscle contraction; and many other chemical substances in your body. The amino acids created from protein are also converted into energy. Protein synthesis strengthens your immune systems and helps maintain the fluid balance in your body.

Protein stimulates the pancreas to produce glucagon, a hormone that releases store fat from cells for energy. This process is necessary for weight loss. Unfortunately, the benefit of glucagon can be blocked if you have excessive insulin in your bloodstream from eating too many starches and other high-glycemic carbohydrates.

Eating a meal that is high in carbohydrates boosts the metabolism by 4%. Eating a meal with high-quality lean protein boosts the metabolism by as much as 30%. Not eating enough protein can create digestive problems and fluid retention.

After water, protein makes up the largest portion of your body weight. This includes muscles, ligaments, tendons, organs, nails, and hair. Protein is needed in your diet, so your body is healthy and can function properly. Proteins actually can enhance weight loss. By eating proteins at every meal, you provide yourself with enough nutritional support to keep going into the next meal. All the critical components for fat burning are provided by proteins. Without protein in our meals, we easily become tired. The most common tendency of people who do not eat enough protein for breakfast is to crash during mid to late afternoon and then overeat that quick pick-me-up high-glycemic starch or sugar and this is certainly a fast, simple way to gain weight.

The ideal amount of protein to eat on a daily basis ranges from 50g to 100g. This is certainly variable based on an individual's particular needs. Protein needs vary based on the sex, body size, muscle mass, and activity level.

In summary, by eating adequate protein your body obtains the building blocks of life, the essential amino acids. Complete proteins are found in meats, sea food, fish, poultry, eggs, and cheese. Sources of incomplete proteins include soybeans, nuts, seeds, and grains.

Protein gives you energy, staves off hunger, staves off fatigue, and helps regulate blood sugar level. If you eat protein for breakfast every day, you will love the amount of energy that will give you. Proteins also help you to reach your ideal size in weight loss.
