How To Monitor Psychosis

Aug 15, 2008
Psychosis is a mental illness where a person has lost contact with reality. People suffering from it are called psychotic. Patients suffering from psychosis are experiencing delusions, hallucinations, not being able to think clearly and they do not realize that there is anything wrong with them (lack of insight).

Psychotic symptoms and behaviors are considered an emergency and are frequently taken care by the family, friends, or even the police to be taken to a hospital for intensive care. A psychotic patient can be legally hospitalized against his or her will; especially if she or he may harm other people. A psychotic person may also be hospitalized if she or he is not able to take care of themselves.

Patients with psychotic symptoms should undergo a thorough physical examination and history to know the exact reason of this illness. It could be generated from organic possibilities as alcohol withdrawal or use in drugs or other psychiatric conditions such as dissociation or panic attacks.

One of the examinations includes a reality-monitoring task in which the patients are first required to generate easy and difficult questions with paired associates. After an interval of one week, the subjects are presented again in a list in which their answers to the clues were mixed with the associates, with words that have not been presented before, and they are required to identify the source of each item.
First, you need to perform the action that needed to monitor the psychotic. It is not too hard to do. You just need to contact the nearest physician to ask the correct method to do some monitoring the person with psychosis. You should know that person with psychosis need many support from people around them. They need to be makes sure that the real world is better than their virtual world. You need to give them your love and cares so that they will obey their virtual world and back to the reality world.

Other methods include subjects that were administered a source monitoring task and were asked either to:
1. Perform the action
2. Watch the experimenter perform the action
3. Imagine him/herself performing the action
4. Imagine the experimenter performing the action
5. Listen to the experimenter enunciate the

action
After that, the actions are presented consisting of those which have been already presented in one of the 5 conditions above, and those which have not been presented before. Each patient is required to identify whether the action was old or new. They also have to complete a questionnaire in meta-cognitive beliefs.

Monitoring a person suffering from psychosis needs an intensive care from the experimenter. The experimenter has to be patient and as approachable as possible to the patients. The treatment they do has progress. Each progress has a significant difference which is vital to the record of the patient.
You need to know that person with psychosis need to be controlled. Once they lose their control, it can be very dangerous for us. They lose their contact to the reality, to the real world. It is our duty to keep them back to the real world.

All you need to do is just keep patient. No matter how bad person with psychosis, you have to state that they are bad because of their illness, not because their bad personality. When you are able to help people with psychosis and make them know the real world, you will feel that you are the happiest person in the world. Imagine that you have already makes people back into the reality and save their life and future, you must be the happiest person in the world.
