I Can't Do It, Eating for Fitness!

Many people feel that they can't give up foods that they love no matter what.
There are several key issues for you to address.

Don't worry, it isn't all bad!

The bad news. It may be a challenge.

The good news. Once you create new food habits, it will be easy to continue them. You may go back to the foods you once craved, and find you no longer like them.

This has happened frequently for me. The difficult part was giving up what I was attached to. I think "life will lose all it's pleasure." It never seemed that way afterwards.

You may wish to find out why it is that you can't give up certain foods. For example, are you connected with that big slice of apple pie because it was your favorite growing up? You may have an emotional attachment.

Identifying why you have to have a specific food is important so that you can actually see the benefits of eating those foods. If you need apple pie to feel safe, you need to address this emotional problem. You know that bad feeling when you have eaten something you knew was not good for you, and now you feel worse.

Having foods as ceremony or to remind us of good experiences or loved ones is great. Don't give that up. Do it consciously and limit quantities and really enjoy it.

If you just love the taste, find ways to get the same taste without a lot of the calories. There are so many healthy delicious substitutes to discover. For example, stevia is a sweetener with no calories and I've come across no warnings. It seems too good to be true. So check it out.

Next, determine if there is a better way to get the foods that you like. Invest some time in becoming a gourmet health cook, and your food will be more delicious as well as healthier.

Making small changes to recipes can give the flavor and texture you want without becoming a victim of high fats and sugars that do a number on your entire system. There are healthy fats that taste as good.

Indeed you may want that slice of apple pie. But, make it a reward, for example, for a week of good eating.
Limiting how often you get treats means that don't have to give them up. Just don't consume as much, and thereby, you can improve your health overall.

One limit to this is when a food is detrimental to your health condition. If you are diabetic, you should not eat foods that are sweet, because they can cause your blood sugar level to rise so fast that you can cause serious damage to your brain and your heart.

You should know what types of foods you can not eat. If you don't know, talk to your health professional. There are certain times in life that foods become prime suspects to leading to health risks. Food isn't worth risking your your life, is it?
