Aug 21, 2008
It is hard enough to actually choose between the leading consoles on the market with the Xbox, Sony Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and the Game Cube consoles all boasting amazing graphics, networking and game selection attributes. Once the decision has been made you are not out of the woods, as there is an unfathomable array of different games to choose from, and at 40 to 50GBP it is important to make the right decision.

This article focuses on three of the top-selling Xbox games of 2008 and the first up is Wall-E. The latest piece of Pixar merchandising has gone down a storm and is selling in droves, but is the game actually any good? If you are under the age of 14 or a big kid at heart and in schedule, then yes.

It is true to the film which is why kids love it however it can get a little repetitive. It is a standard platform game and is really just the film in game form. An experienced player would get a long Saturday out of it, but it is good for keeping the kids out of trouble.

Next up is a return to old school retro game play with Beijing 2008. Get your spare control pads ready for this button bashing bonanza and book an appointment at the GP to get a prescription for your repetitive strain injury.

This game will either consume your life or bore you to death and you should know before you have picked up a pad. If you are a fan of the classic track and field games you will love this as there are loads of events and excellent game play. There is a large amount of button bashing but it is totally worth it and this game is set to gain cult status.

Finally we have another sport game, Top Spin claiming to be the best tennis game ever made. This might well be true for people who are actually professional tennis player, as winning against the computers AI player is probably actually tougher than going three sets with Federer.

The buttons are tricky and the AI is not willing enough to make mistakes which leaves you wanting to serve your controller into the wall. The graphics and motion of the players is unparalleled in any sports game however you generally only enjoy it through gritted.

The Xbox is certainly leading the networking market as games such as the Call of Duty series has people from every corner of the globe splattering their brains over the network walls. None of these games are really going to make massive tremors in network gaming however they are a good excuse to stay in on a rainy day.
