It is preferable to prevent mold proliferation than to have to handle it after it has started to grow in a home and on personal belongings. Water damage is almost guaranteed to be the reason for mold growth There are several ways to stop mold prior to it starting. Open doors and windows to circulate air if it is not as humid outside than indoors the water damaged dwelling. If that isn't accomplishable run an air conditioner or even better bring in dehumidifiers to take the moisture out of the air in the interior of the place. Turn on fans to disperse air and assist in the drying procedure. If mold has already begun to grow this may preclude it from creating more of a problem by removing the wetness that allows its proliferation.

If you have to handle mold growth on your things, carry them outdoors if at all feasible. This will preclude mold spores from adhering to other surfaces in the house when you brush them with the object you are taking care of. Wearing your mask and protective gear, take an applicator and lightly move it across the mold infested area dislodging the mold. Keep doing this this until you no longer can see the mold anymore. Use a vac with a HEPA system to take away any mold spores that have developed further into the thing you are handling. When you are finished with the vacuum get rid of and seal the vacuum bag. Throw away the bag instantly and sanitize the vacuum to prevent contact with the toxic substances from the mold removal procedure. Now use a slightly wet towel and cleaning fluid and wipe the affected spot. Rinse the area and use a dry cloth to rub the spot until it is dry.

If the affected area is badly soiled it may be necessary to use a fungicide to destroy the rest of the mold. Get the correct manufactured good to use on the item you are working on. Be cautious when using fungal agents as they can be harmful if inhaled or if it touches with your eye or skin. This is enough to rid an object of mold but be sure to check your personal belongings a few times over the next couple of months to be careful the mold does not come back. If at all possible you really should charter an expert in mold remediation to handle the remediation of mold from all of your stuff as this will be the best way of managing it.
