Self Defense for Personal Welfare

Aug 25, 2008
More than anyone else, we are responsible for our own safety that is why various programs have been conducted to teach each individual of the proper way to react when under threat. This refers to the means of action that will be used by a person in order to avert another person from creating injury or harm to your personal life. Although most people would associate this term to personal defense, technically, this is more connected with civilian hand-to-hand defense methods.

There are various kinds of self defense that one can employ when being attack; one is by counteracting the harm without using any gadget of protection. Most people who were able to study any kinds of martial arts like Taekwondo, Ju Jitsu, Wushu, Karate, and Ninjitsu are specially trained for self-defense. Take for consideration that there are some martial arts that are primarily designed for sports like boxing or judo which are effective enough when efficiently applied for self-defense. You need not to act like Bruce Lee just to successfully work against your opponent and you should also be reminded that although acrobatic stunts and flying kicks thrown to10 opponents may look extremely nice on the screen, you should not employ these kinds in real life because the scene will totally be a lot different. Instead of doing any flashy move right ahead, try to study first the movement and physical feature of your opponent so you would know what body part to target.

There is a law known as the castle Doctrine which gives victim some kind of protection against the angst brought by the law just in case the victim suddenly made a move that leaves her opponent dead. There are some states that allow people to carry weapon with them for safety such as firearms and pepper sprays. However, the usage of these weapons is still governed by certain principles of the law. In other countries however, using these apparatus are highly illegal thus it may require a license. In addition, objects that we encounter on our everyday living can also be used for self defense like body sprays which you can directly use on the eye of your offender although they are not as useful like the abovementioned device.

If you would opt for less harmful method then you can just try personal alarms which are a method to practice passive self-defense. They are small that they could perfectly fit on your palm and they give off strong, high, loud pitched sounds as to prevent your intruder since the noise will draw the interest of passersby. Personal alarm are available in wide range of kinds which includes key chain alarms as well as child safety alarms that are particularly made for parents to ensure the protection of their kids. Moreover, pepper spray and personal tasers are also other alternative for self defense which can use in a less passive manner although they are specially made as a deterrent and not an assault items. Ensure your safety at all times, use self defense paraphernalia.
