Knowing All About Pug Potty Training

Aug 26, 2008
We can think about all the fun things that you are going to be able to do with your new puppy but what you really need to be focusing on is that Pug potty training is something that is extremely important and it does need to be taken care of right away. If not, you could end up with a lot of mess on your carpets and if the problem is allowed to carry on for too long, you will be looking at dishing out some big bucks to completely replace your carpets.

The actually process for Pug potty training is not hard at all but how it turns out does completely fall upon your shoulders. Whether the Pug training is a success or failure is nothing about what the dog did or did not do as it is completely based upon if you did a good job in training. And with something as messy as accidents happening in your home, you do not want to allow yourself to fail at Pug potty training.

When deciding to begin your journey through Pug potty training land, it is advisable to purchase a proper sized crate for your puppy. You want to buy something that is not too small so that they can stand and turn around, but not too big either.

The best method and this is suggested not only by millions of dog owners, but also by many dog training books, is the crate training method as this is the most controlled way to make Pug training work. Purchase the right size crate so that it is not too small and not too large and make it a fun place to be by never using it for punishment.

Now, if you are heading off to sleep or know that you need to go to work, it is important to make sure that you secure your puppy into their crate for safe keeping. This will not only keep your puppy safe from harms way but also keep your carpets free from being soiled. Whenever you cannot keep an eye directly on the puppy, it is best to place him or her into the crate, but just make sure that they are not stuck in there all the time in order to keep from crossing the line into neglect.

Now, whenever you cannot be right with your puppy either because you are sleeping or are leaving the house, make sure you place them into their crate. Never leave a puppy unattended just as you would never leave a human baby out to wonder around when no one is home as it is simply not safe.

Remember, they held it the entire time in their crate because animals do not like going where they sleep so they need to be given the chance to go in the right location and to be praised for it. Even though you are controlling the situation, make sure that you give all credit to the puppy.

Also, make sure that the food and water dish is not just left out filled with food and water all day and night. Good Pug training guidelines will tell you that this will make it difficult t potty train your dog as he or she will always have access to the stuff that makes them need to go. And as a puppy, as any of the good dog training books will also tell you, once they eat or drink, it does not stay in their system long before they have the urge to go potty.
