M.O.R. Vacations versus Global Resorts Network

Aug 26, 2008
MOR Vacations, the hottest new travel club on the Internet, has quickly upstaged long time king of the hill Global Resorts Network. Even though MOR Vacation is a new company it is backed by a 23 year old membership company with more than 100,000 active members.

For the past two years Global Resorts Network has remained virtually competition free. Yes, YTB and Coastal Vacations have always competed against GRN, but they really do not stack up and have only appealed to those who could not afford the sticker price of Global Resorts and were willing to accept the hassles of dealing with coupons and vouchers.

But, as is common in the network marketing arena, there seems to be a two year window of opportunity and that window is rapidly being shut by the new upstart MOR Vacations (the M.O.R. stands for Members Only Resorts). But just how is MOR Vacations manage to come into a market dominated by Global Resorts and immediately have such a huge impact?

Credit is the American way and Founder of MOR Vacations, Jon King, recognized this flaw in Global Resorts. Global Resorts has been successful without an in-house financing program largely because it truly has had no competition in the marketplace at it's price point and was, therefore, comfortable not taking the risk of offering financing to it's members. But turning it's back to these consumers may have been a fatal mistake.

Today people are struggling economically and a $3000 credit card charge is not as easy to make as it used to be. Despite many top earners in GRN insisting that the company needed to offer in-house consumer financing, Global Resorts stood steadfast leaving the customers to secure their own financing or look at cheaper alternatives such as YTB or Coastal Resorts.

After dominating the marketplace for the past two years, Global Resorts has largely remaining unchanged from it's inception. This may have been their achilles heal because MOR Vacations came out and immediately positioned itself as a "bigger, better, more flexible" alternative to GRN by introducing a simple financing program to it's members and even a "trade-in" program that allows members of other competing travel clubs to surrender their existing membership and pay only $498 for their new MOR Vacations membership. This ingenious offer along with the promise of financing help to create a mass exodus of GRN top earners to MOR Vacations.

MOR Vacations didn't stop with just a financing and trade-in program - they also introduced various other enhancements over GRN. For example, they not only reduced the cost of "Hot Weeks" to half of what Global Resorts charges, but they also expanded the top end to appeal to the more discerning traveler who was not satisfied with mere 5 star resorts, but to whom diamond level resorts had more appeal. MOR Vacations also was wise to recognize that $149 and $199 "Hot Weeks" were great, but they needed to be more accessible to the average consumer so they focused their Hot Weeks in the United States.

All things aside, these two companies are much more similar than they are different. But, as MOR Vacations is the new kid on the block, off of the differences favor MOR Vacations as they have bested GRN in most all notable categories. Both companies are priced very comparable, have unlimited travel, offer lifetime membership without fees, a similar number of resorts, etc

There are other differences between the companies. MOR Vacations offers a more affordable starter package (only $1298 as opposed to $1500 for GRN) with a longer term (5 years as opposed to 3 years for GRN). MOR Vacations also has about 10% more resorts in its registry and its weeks range from half of the cost of GRN's up to Diamond level accommodations - something GRN does not offer.

So, which one is right for you? The fact is that you can't go wrong with either company, but when you compare the features and benefits of each side by side and in every area of difference MOR Vacations edges out Global Resorts, why would you simply not choose the more flexible and affordable offering by MOR Vacations?
