Why Is Chlorella So Good For Us?

Aug 26, 2008
Chlorella is one of the most heavily researched algae in the world and is one of the purest green foods known to man. So what exactly is it and how is it beneficial to our health? Chlorella is a genus of single-celled green algae, belonging to the phylum Chlorophyta and it contains the green photosynthetic pigments chlorophyll-a and -b in its chloroplast.

Chlorella more beta-carotene than carrots, in fact, over 10 x the amount! It also has the highest chlorophyll content of any plant in the world. Chlorella is abundantly rich in B vitamins, especially vitamin B-12.

Chlorophyll is renowned for its ability to purify blood and cleanse vital organs. Chlorella cleanses our bowels and other channels of elimination as well as protecting our liver, which in turn helps to purify blood.

Extensive research has shown chlorella to have extremely beneficial properties and significant benefits for the blood as it contains a complex molecule, which similar to chlorophyll can bind itself to heavy metals to effectively filter them from our bodies, which in turn helps to stabilize blood pressure.

Chlorella Helps to Build Up the Immune Factors. Science considers the trillions of white blood cells (leukocytes) and antibodies that circulate in the blood and lymph as the body's main defense system against disease.

The health benefits of Chlorella are numerous and here we list just a few of them:

Chlorella can assist in the purification of the blood and it is an extremely good detoxifier. Its ability to rid the body of heavy metals and toxins from the body makes it a staple ingredient in detoxifying diets.

Chlorella Helps to Balance Blood Sugar. Experiments have shown that chlorella tends to normalize blood sugar in cases of hypoglycemia while numerous personal testimonies show that it can also assist in the care of diabetes.

Due to its high fibre content Chlorella promotes the intestinal micro flora production, which can result in the reduction of cravings for food. It does this by increasing the feelings of fullness at meal times. Chlorella also helps our bodies to eliminate food more effectively, which in turn reduces fat storage from food.

The Omega-3, alpha-linolenic variety of fatty acids found in chlorella is said to be the main reason chlorella is so effective in the reduction of cholesterol.

Chlorella can help protect the body from the damaging and harmful effects of cancer radiation treatment and it is for this reason it is commonly used in many cancer treatments.

Chlorella provides all the essential nutrients the body needs and added to a healthy weight loss diet, it can really help people loose weight more effectively.

Chlorella is rich in protein, caretenoids and is considered a whole food and has an extremely high percentage of chlorophyll, which is essential in aiding digestion, cleansing the bowels and purifying blood and it is for these reasons that chlorella has become so popular as a natural food supplement.
