Best Practices For German Shepherd Pictures

Aug 27, 2008
Wouldn't you love to have a picture of your beloved pet on a coffee mug, a mouse pad, or a calendar? By following five tips for taking good German Shepherd pictures, you will be able to take professional quality photos of your pet with an inexpensive digital camera or camera phone.

Taking German Shepherd pictures is a fun activity for you and your pet to do together. The beautiful German Shepherd breed is a natural subject for portrait photography. Whether you use the very latest in high-tech digital cameras or an inexpensive camera phone, you can capture your dog at its best.

Tip number one is doing your homework. Be prepared and gather everything you need before you get the dog involved. Load an empty, high-capacity memory card in your digital camera, replace the batteries, and carry a supply of fresh batteries. Decide whether you will take your German Shepherd pictures indoors our outdoors. If you choose an indoor setting, make sure there is plenty of light, and arrange any backdrops you will need. If you photograph your dog outdoors, secure the area for your pet's safety.

Tip number two is getting some help. Once you pick up the camera, you literally have your hands full. You need an extra person on site to help pose your dog, brush its hair, keep it looking alert, feed it treats and act as your staging assistant while you take pictures.

Choose someone who likes your dog, and make it sound like a fun adventure to undertake for a few hours on a weekend. Be sure to serve appropriate refreshments during the photo session, and thank your assistant after the session is over by sending him or her one of the great German Shepherd pictures you took with your assistant's help.

Tip number three is to plan your background. Select an area for your German Shepherd pictures. If you're taking pictures outside, you will find that the deep tan coat of the German Shepherd looks particularly good against green grass and a blue sky. With that in mind, you may want to use blue or green fabric as a backdrop if you are taking your pictures indoors.

Tip number four is to use toys to keep your dog engaged. Select a few colorful dog toys or a cute stuffed animal to include in your dog's pictures. If your German Shepherd is a puppy, the objects will help illustrate how small the dog is and make him or her look younger.

Tip number five is get down. Don't take German Shepherd pictures while you are standing up. Get down until you are eye level with your dog, and then start taking your pictures. Both your candid shots and the portrait style shots of your dog gazing into the camera will look better if the camera is at eye level with the dog. With these five quick, easy tips, you'll soon be taking professional quality pictures of your German Shepherd.
