Birds sing in the trees and the flowers are in full-bloom. The sky is crystal blue and the sun is shining. What a perfect summer day for a romantic picnic! As the months fade into fall, the temperature gets cooler and a blanket of colorful leaves covers the ground. This, too, is a wonderful time to plan a picnic with that special someone. Make sure that your picnic includes delicious wine, because wine is for lovers. Good summer wines include Chardonnay with a citrus twist, a light and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, or a Pino Grigio with a slightly fruity flavor.

Take a minute to envision the perfect picnic with your lover. Spread a pretty blanket, or the classic checkered tablecloth, on the soft grass. An ideal location would be near a waterfall or a majestic woodland setting. The scenery will provide a perfect backdrop for your romantic picnic with your significant other. And a good snack to bring along would be some salty nuts.

The crisp days of autumn, with the shorter days and hint of wood smoke in the air, is an ideal time to plan a romantic picnic. Many areas of the country experience a riot of fall colors of reds, oranges and yellows as the foliage starts to turn from the bight greens of high summer.

Consider a Sunday ride with your beloved. You view all the astounding beauty of autumn leaves as they lay on the ground while on your way to a romantic date. Arriving at the chosen picnic spot, you present the best wine complement for autumn: a tasty red Cabernet Sauvignon, a delicious Pinot Noir, a hearty red Port or maybe a hearty Merlot. Choice of any is a sure delight.

The pleasurable dish creates an even more perfect and romantic date. That may depend on the time you have to prepare. Are you worried that you only have a short period to plan? Well, think simplicity. Oftentimes the most enjoyable and stress-free moments with your loved ones are those when you have less preparation and when you have simpler setting. However, a good cheese, several fruit in season, fresh bread and surely a sumptuous wine are essential must haves.

Everyone has at least a few gift baskets lying around that haven't been opened yet. Why not break them out and use the contents for your next picnic? If you want to top off the meal with a decadent dessert, bring along something tasty from a chocolate gift basket. For an extra-special sweet, try dipping ripe, red strawberries in melted dark chocolate drizzled with white chocolate.

An appetizing dessert adds sweetness and fun to an already romantic picnic date. This is the time to enjoy those tempting gift baskets you brought to liven up your dessert presentation. It is always very nice to have a chocolate gift basket waiting after that romantic meal. Fruits and nuts coated with melted white and dark chocolate always make for a delicious dessert.
