The Aloe Vera Plant Healing Ability

Aloe vera is medicinal plant that has many health benefits for its users. Consumers may buy aloe in different forms. It is possible to buy aloe as a gel, extract, powder, juice and a plant to grow in the home. Consumers can use aloe vera externally and internally.

There are more than 300 species of the aloe plant. This African plant has succulent spiked leaves, which if broken, release aloe vera gel. The aloe plant is referred to in historic texts as being used in ancient Egypt, Greece and Asia for its beautifying and healing effects.

It is possible to use unrefined aloe vera gel right from the plant. Many people will keep aloe vera plants in their homes, for this purpose. Suppliers sell aloe vera in this form, too.

The plant gel is commonly used to heal and cleanse wounds. Its healing properties and skin friendly qualities have made it a popular natural product around the world. In clinical studies, aloe was associated with lowering heart disease risk factors, lowered cholesterol levels and lowering diabetic sugar levels after meals.

Aloe vera has the ability to hydrate and soothe skin. This is especially helpful for dry or sun burnt sun. The aloe vera sinks into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. Aloe vera also reduces inflammation.

When used as a topical application aloe is generally used in gel form as a skin conditioner, after sun treatment and for wounds. For these purposes, it is easy to use the natural gel form or an extract used as an ingredient in a cream. The gel form can be taken internally as well.

The aloe vera powder and juice are used for both external and internal use. Aloe powder and juice are both versatile forms of the product. The powder or juice may be used in the manufacture of beauty and first aid preparations.

The powder or granules are taken as a laxative. Aloe products are used in cough preparations. Aloe is used for the treatment of ulcers and other medical conditions. Aloe powder, juice and gel is taken internally with the thought that it will improve and clean all systems from the inside out. The gel or a juice made from the gel may be taken by itself or in combination with other healthy ingredients.

Consumers take aloe vera internally because of its benefits for the immune system and digestion tract. Aloe vera products are considered as a healthy dietary supplement because of its high volume of mineral and vitamin content. Enthusiasts claim that drinking aloe vera keeps weight down because it provides many nutrients and promotes a healthy feeling.

The practice of taking aloe internally has a shorter history than its topical use. The jury is still out about the complete safety of taking aloe vera products internally for long periods because serious medical conditions have been associated with chronic internal use.

Aloe products have the ability to lower sugar levels and should not be taken by internally without consulting a doctor. For this reason, until more studies are known, it is recommended that young children avoid taking aloe products internally. Internal use of aloe vera can contradict some drugs. People with allergies to plants of the lily family, such as tulips and garlic, should avoid this plant of the same family.

Aloe vera has found its way into personal, first aid and health food products. It is one of the most widely recognized natural products. Many people prefer aloe vera products to other similar products because of its many benefits.
