8 Foods That Can Lower Cholesterol

Everybody should be concerned of the things he or she eats. This practice is mandatory for people with high cholesterol levels and heart ailments. As much as possible, they should start adding foods that lower cholesterol in their daily diet. These foods are very beneficial in keeping your body healthy and fit at all times. Here are good examples:

1. Green Tea

Green tea is an antioxidant. Simply put, it stops cholesterol from forming in the blood. Drink a cup of green tea daily for health and wellness. Let the detoxifying properties of green tea rid your body of free radicals. Green tea is the best replacement to your daily cup of coffee.

2. Soy

If your body needs protein, get it from soy rather than from meat. Soy allows you to remove red meats from your diet without risking your daily requirements for protein. There are a lot of soy milk and soy food products today. Try them whenever you can.

3. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is very rich in fiber. The role of fiber in the body is to absorb the bad cholesterol in the bloodstream. A bowl of oatmeal could strengthen your heart. Plus, it assures you of a fit and perfect body too.

4. Safflower oil

If you have to use oil in preparing your food, make sure that you use safflower oil. Aside from having no cholesterol content, it also helps lower down the count of bad cholesterol already in your blood. Safflower oil is composed of polyunsaturated fats that are not harmful to the body like other types of oil.

5. Almonds

Make it a habit to munch on almonds for snacks. They are much healthier than chips and fries. Almonds are good sources of monounsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats help stop the formation of bad cholesterol.

6. Fish

Fish and fish oils are the main sources of the Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 helps lower cholesterol. It also improves the heart's functions while making sure that the blood doesn't clot too much.

7. Avocado

All fruits are good for the body. However, avocados are the type of fruits that can directly lower down cholesterol. Take avocadoes for dessert. It is the healthier option for pastries, cakes, and brownies.

8. Extra-virgin olive oil

If in case you can't find safflower oil from the grocery, buy extra-virgin olive oil instead. Its only downside is the fact that this oil is the more expensive option. Extra-virgin olive oil controls the triglyceride level in the blood for a healthier heart.

These are the eight major foods types that can help lower cholesterol. Take them on a regular basis for health and longevity. More than keeping your cholesterol levels at minimum, these foods also contain nutrients that are needed by the body. They could help everyone, regardless if they're suffering from high cholesterol levels or not. The best treatment therapy always starts with prevention. People who suspect that their cholesterol level is high should start living a healthy lifestyle prior to the diagnosis of their doctor.
