How To Test Your Child For ADHD

According to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1.6 million elementary school-aged children have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Estimates reveal that about 6% of school going kids has ADHD problems. This figure is only partially representative as less than 50% of cases might be reported, less than that, diagnosed.

The ADHD or Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is not fully defined anywhere but it is indeed a legitimate psychological state of mind. Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a psychological disorder that starts right from the childhood. It is psychological disease which generally changes how a child behaves, think, and feel. The ADHD children are generally very restless.

Nearly all children suffering from this disease are overactive and lacking concentration at times. The infants suffering from this disease are extremely restless, crying, they also show a very poor sleep patterns. The ADHD affected babies are also difficult to feed, frequent irritability, head banging and often they rock their bed.

As it is stated earlier there are different ADHD symptoms in older children. The older children have poor concentration in their study have a week memory, impulsiveness they are in a hurry to do everything, generally lack self prestige Weak short term memory and they suffer from some abnormal sleep and appetite problems. There are also different degrees of severity.

How to test that your child is suffering from ADHD
To test whether your child is suffering from ADHD or not is not very easy. It is not easy to find whether your child is suffering from ADHD or not because the symptom in this disease are very common. To find out whether your child has ADHD or not you have to observe him closely.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is often misdiagnosed: There is always a chance that your child may be misdiagnosed as ADHD even the psychologist sometimes misdiagnoses the ADHD because there is no efficient procedure to diagnose the ADHD effectively. There are many cases where test of ADHD was wrong and the person who was not suffering from this disorder was diagnosed as positive.

Please check the symptoms mentioned above and if these symptoms match there is a strong chance of your child suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. You don't need to worry just contact the psychiatrist and he will check that your child is suffering from ADHD or not. Remember that in this disorder all your child needs is just a little care and attention from you.
