How to Use Hair Straighteners For Curling

Sep 3, 2008
When you heard of a hair straightener, the first thing that comes to mind is straightening the hair. That is partially true. The hair straighteners' primary goal is to provide a shiny straight hair. However, its use has evolved. Today, there are many things and hairstyles that you can do with it.

If you are going to pick the best hair straightener iron, it is important to note the others things you want to do with it. The width of the plate is usually dependent on the length of your hair but you can pick a smaller plate if you want the device to be more flexible. Choose one that is about an inch in width. You can actually use these straighteners to create other hairstyles.

It is important that you prepare your hair before styling it. Make sure that you shampoo and condition it. After that, thoroughly dry it. It is also better if you apply curling waxes so that the device can easily reshape your hair and it will be much easier for you. Group your hair and work on them by sections.

To do small curls, start with about two-inch section of your hair. Free it of tangles. When ready, clip the iron horizontally about two inches away from the roots. After that, start turning the iron inwards. As you turn it inwards, gently push the iron downwards until you reach the tip of the hair. Do not push the iron all the way through. When your reach the tip of your hair, keep it clipped for two to three seconds and then release it from the clip. This will prevent the frizzy results on the tip of your hair.

You can also create a twirling curl like those achieved with the curling irons. Pick a portion of your hair and clip it with the straightener slightly angled at 225 degrees. Once in position, start turning the iron inwards while gently pulling the iron downwards. As mentioned above, clip the tips of your hair for a few seconds before releasing the hair.

Another hairstyle you can achieve with this device is gorgeous waves. Like the previous styles, put the iron about two inches away from your roots. This time, fully turn the iron outwards once. This should leave the tip of your hair pointing downwards. After that, just slide the iron down to the tip of your hair creating those beautiful waves. Make sure that you do all of your hair to have an awesome finish.

Using the best hair straightener iron will give you better results. Make sure that you have a good device when doing this. With a little bit of creativity, your hair straightener will go a long way. Prepare your hair for styling and work on them a section at a time. The style that you are going to create depends on how you position the iron and the direction you turn it to. No matter what style you want, remember to use protective heat spray to make sure you do not burn your hair.
