How To Find The Right Venue For Your Wedding
One of the most important parts of your wedding ceremony is the venue, but there's more to choose from than there used to be. Instead of just getting married in the local church, many couples are opting for different wedding venues, including outdoor weddings, special locations and more.
The popularity of informal and nontraditional venues is growing. Many couples are choosing to skip the standard reception and go with one that expresses their personalities better. Themed weddings are a big part of this trend, leading to a large number of couples picking a venue that matches their theme.
Of course, no matter which venue you choose, you should ask a few questions before you make the reservation. Make sure you know your budget, personal preferences, and how many guests you'll need to accommodate. Also, find out what amenities are available with a given venue.
One basic rule is to avoid spending more than thirty percent of the wedding budget on the location. That's not a hard rule, since some couples spend more, and others spend a lot less. You can find a bargain at some nontraditional locations, but they may be less experienced at dealing with weddings.
How much can you spend? Set your budget before you rent, and stick to it throughout the process of selecting a venue. Look for packages if you're renting a conventional venue, since they can make your wedding less expensive.
Venues that don't provide food and drink or entertainment mean that you'll need to factor the cost of those into your budget. Even little things can add up, meaning that it's important to be sure you're ready for the expense.
When choosing a venue, it's important to narrow down your choices, so you'll feel less bewildered. Decide in advance whether you want an indoor or outdoor wedding. Remember that outdoor weddings will require an alternate location in case of rain or other complications.
Do you have a wedding theme? You can choose an appropriate venue for just about any kind of wedding. Outdoor settings are particularly appropriate for Western themed weddings or those with a Medieval flavor. For others, you may wish to choose interesting local buildings.
Then, if it's a non traditional venue that you're thinking about, take a look at what's required to use it. Find out if you'll be responsible for cleaning up afterward, or if you'll need to make special arrangements for use. Consider distance, too. Your friends and family members will also have to travel to attend your wedding.
Venue size is important as well. You should be able to comfortably accommodate the number of people you'd like to invite to your chosen wedding venue. However, it's important for the venue not to be too large. When live music is planned, or if you're hiring a DJ, make sure that there's enough space for all the equipment, as well as for dancing.
It's important, when looking at venue size, to do more than just ask how many people can use the venue. Find out how the area will be laid out, to make sure that none of your guests are relegated to the hall or corner.
Book well in advance once you're sure that you've found the perfect venue. Get a receipt, and make sure that everything is well organized for the big day. That way, you'll be sure that there are no problems with your wedding venue, and you can concentrate on one another.
