What You Need To Know About Bichon Frise Training

Sep 4, 2008
The Bichon Frise is a great breed of dog, but it is important that you are fully aware on the issue of training the breed before you go ahead and get one of these dogs for yourself. This is primarily because the Bichon Frise tends to be quite a stubborn dog and therefore can often be more difficult than most breeds to train. It is important to be aware of this before deciding on this breed, because you need to be sure that you are going to have the patience that is going to be needed for these challenges.

Bichon Frise training, for instance, is often more time consuming and difficult than training with other dogs. This is because the Bichon Frise dogs tend to be quite stubborn and very dominant as well. As long as you start when they are young you should not have too many problems, and there are always great tips and tricks that you can use to help you.

There are a few different issues in particular that are important when it comes to the issue of Bichon Frise training. Socialization is one of the most major issues of all, and in particular the Bichon Frise tends to have a problem with shyness if they are not exposed properly to other people and dogs when they are younger. They need extensive exposure to people and to unusual sights and sounds in order to grow up sociable and friendly.

Separation is another important issue when it comes to Bichon Frise training. They are attention seeking dogs, and actually do not like to be left alone for more than a few hours at a time. They will definitely let you know when you are not spending enough time with them, usually by constant barking and destructive chewing. Obviously then if you are someone who is usually out all day, this is not going to be the best breed for you to choose as a pet.

Bichon Frise paper training can be done completely by you, although you will most likely have to spend some time reading up and becoming more educated on the matter beforehand. You will need to learn the specific paper training techniques that are used and how to use them.

After this concept has been learned, and the puppy uses the paper every time, slowly move the paper toward and then out the door. A doggy door can be helpful here, as this allows the dog to go outside whenever necessary.

The bottom line is that getting a Bichon Frise may just be the best thing that you ever do, but you are going to have to be both willing and able to put the time and effort in that is going to be required in raising them, particularly in regards to Bichon Frise training.

You also need to make sure that you are stern and consistent, but without being mean. Getting angry at your dog is never going to solve anything and is only going to get them and you discouraged.
