6 Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, Winners! Is That It? Better Off Being A Poker Millionaire

Sep 5, 2008
We all know and have heard of the gambling television show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire". In the UK it is and has been broadcasted by ITV with Chris Tarrant being the host. The show first initially aired on September 4, 1998 and since then it has become a major global success.

The game basically consists of a contestant answering a number of questions to ultimately reach the one million pound prize. As he or she climbs the ladder of success. The questions get harder and harder. The contestant has three life lines to hang on to. Ranging from phone a friend, to 50/50 and ask the audience. All this being said it seems to me a strange figure that only 6 people have won the major jackpot prize, are the questions too hard? Are there too many?

The 6 winners include:

Judith Keppel, November 20, 2000
David Edwards, April 21, 2001
Major Charles Ingram (Prize rescinded after found guilty of fraud), scheduled for September 18, 2001 but not actually broadcast until April 21, 2003.
Robert Brydges, September 29, 2001
Pat Gibson, April 24, 2004
Ingram Wilcox, September 23, 2006

As you can see this is a very minor amount of jackpots wins. If we look at Japans winners, you will see that they nearly triple that of every other country; does this mean that Japan are a much smarter country?

Yasuyuki Kunimitsu, July 27, 2000

All in all I believe that you have a much higher chance playing a game of poker then winning an amount on who wants to be a millionaire.
