Floridians Are Still Under The Gun Even After Fays Departure
The entire state of Florida has been sitting on pins and needles for the past week while they have waited for tropical storm Fay to play her self out. She has definitely taken her own sweet time making her way in and over the state only to leave and come back again and again and again. She has been one of the most annoying tropical storms in recent history. People just could not believe the number of times they thought she might be leaving and then turn around and return.
She has finally made her way north at a slow pace and is now plaguing other states with excessive amounts of rainfall. Many of these places are actually grateful to see her because they have really been on the short end of the stick in the past couple of years when it has come to rainfall. Places like Atlanta have been being rained on fairly steadily for the past couple of days and no one hears them complaining yet.
Back in Florida, the Tallahassee area is now wondering whether or not they could be the next ones to have flood problems. Other areas have already had floods and had many people who have been evacuated. Even though the rains have stopped, local rivers, ponds, and lakes have overflowed. The Ochlockonee River is still cresting and many wonder whether or not it will cause more flooding.
Some schools have reopened, but many sustained water damage and power outages that have not yet been resolved. Many people are still having problems having access to certain places because roads and that remain blocked by water. Many are waiting for the water to recede before they can return to their homes and access their personal damage while others have even used small boats to reach their houses now..
Though Fay has been reduced to just a lot of rainfall, she might still have enough water left to cause other places she is visiting now to have some flash flooding of their own. She is still moving across Georgia, South and North Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama. Eastern Tennessee around the Smoky Mountain region is also grateful for the rainfall from Fay. North and South Carolina will be grateful for any water that Fay can bring their way.
Evan as damaging as these types of storms can be to some places, it seems that at least some good has come from Fay to many areas that really needed the rain to bring some relief for the drought they have been experiencing. That is just the way it is with Mother Nature. Many times we just have to go through the bad to receive the good.
