If You Only Want the Best Skincare, Read the Product Label

Sep 8, 2008
If you are like me, you only want to use the best skincare products on your body but are confused by the myriad of products available. There are literally dozens of products that claim that they provide the best skincare available today. You try them and you are either disappointed with the results, break out in a rash or worse make your skin condition worse or develop new skin problems. So how do you decide which one to choose without testing every bottle, jar or tube stacked on the store's shelves?

After trying several of the products that advertised that they were the best skincare products available today and being seriously disappointed in the results; I decided to get smart and did some research. I checked out what dermatologists had to say about the subject. I looked into what ingredients they would recommend and those they advised to avoid. Then, when I went shopping, I was armed with enough information to choose the best product for me and my skin problems. I would like to share what I found out with you.

First, let's talk about what to avoid and why. Many skincare products contain alcohol (isopropyl, SD etc.). Along with harsh chemicals and astringents, dermatologists say to avoid putting any form of alcohol on your face. It strips away the skin's natural oils leaving you open to an array of problems including the pain of having skin so dry that it cracks open.

Another of the dermatologist's no, no's is using products that contain mineral oil. Mineral oil clogs the skin's pores trapping in dirt and grime which leads to outbreaks of acne. If you are trying to keep your skin healthy, why on earth would you want to risk having acne?

Dermatologists agree that the best skincare products will contain the nutrients essential to skin health. But, then they go on to say that many of these products do not contain enough of these essential nutrients. Their recommendation is that if you want the best skincare you should look for those that have just the right amounts of vitamins A, B, C and the antioxidants Vitamin B and Conenzymeq10 in them.

Along with essential nutrients, you skin also needs to be moisturized. The best skincare products use natural oils like jojoba, olive and grapeseed oil to give your skin this needed moisture. Unlike mineral oil, these natural oils do not clog the pores. They help relieve dry skin and make it feel soft and smooth.

Armed with the right information, you no longer have to be a guinea pig. You do not have to test every product that claims to be the best skincare that you can buy today. You just have to read the list of ingredients that can be found on the product's label. Avoid those that contain alcohol and/or mineral oil and look for those that can provide the skin with both the essential nutrients and the moisture that it needs to stay healthy. Your skin will then become softer, smoother, and healthier.
