The Role Of Family In The Aftercare Of The Detox Treatment In Georgia

Detox treatment in Georgia is the main part of its addiction treatment program. The detox treatment program is very important and crucial, as the patient will show minor to major withdrawal symptoms. That is why the role of the family is highly important, more so when the patient comes out of the detox treatment.

The role of family in giving proper care and support to the patient is beyond explanation. The patient gets all the strength to fight with their addiction due to the family support only. The family can also play a major role and save patient from going into relapse. That is why the detox treatment in Georgia involves the family of the addict right from the start of the treatment.

The ways in which a family can be helpful in the addiction treatment program is given below:-

1. Making the addict accept the treatment: The family of the addict is the major support for the treatment programs, as the families make it really easy for the addict to join a treatment center and take a proper treatment program in Georgia. The addicts can stay in denial phase forever if the family of the addict didn't make the extra efforts to make the addict realize that they should come out of addiction.

2. Helping the addict in choosing the right kind of treatment program: The treatment centers in Georgia, ask the family of the addict for their opinion about which treatment program they want their patient to take. The families of the addicts will be given brief information about all the treatment program options. The family can take their decision along with the addict and choose the treatment program.

3. Participating in the counseling program of the treatment providers: Most of the treatment centers in Georgia have their own counseling programs. These counseling programs guide the family of the patient on various aspects of addiction treatment program. The family will be trained to go through the entire treatment program in a calm and cool manner. The family will be counseled about what their behavior should be with the patient when he or she comes out of the center after taking the treatment. The families of the addicts will be given group counseling too, so that the families can benefits from the experiences of others and also share their worries with others.

In most centers there are three-day programs for counseling the families of the patients how to cope with the addiction and how to deal with a relapse situation. Families are taught to understand the signs and symptoms of an impending relapse and what they must do in such situations.

4. Caring for the patient after the detox treatment: The family of the patient who has undergone detox treatment will be notified about the day when the patient will get discharged from the center. The counselor will call the family before this day and advise them on various things. The counselor will explain them what they should do next to keep the patient away from getting back into addiction. The family of the patient will be told about various signs that they can see in patient and report to the treatment center in order to save the patient from going into relapse. The family will also be guided on the medications given to the patient.

The family of the patient will also be trained to prevent the patient from going into relapse. They will be also given training on what they should do if the patient goes into relapse. The family will also be given instructions to make the patient become socially interactive but they should not do hurry in this matter. The patient should be allowed to mix with their trusted set of friends before and then slowly they should be allowed to go in bigger and unknown group of people.

The counselor will advise the family how they should slowly make the patient do the regular work that the patient used to do before taking the treatment like may be studying or going for work. The family will also be given training on how they should behave with the patient and how they should keep the home atmosphere. The family will be advised to not to taunt or blame the patient for anything that happened in the past.

All these things show that the family of the addict has a major role to play in the overall addiction treatment program.
