Cheap Last Minute Vacation

Sep 10, 2008
If you are taking your family to Orlando for a vacation then be prepared for a busy time at the parks, although you can always take a break and visit one of the many other interesting attractions. There are enough shops, markets, museums, art galleries and much more in Orlando to keep even the most 'difficult to please' person occupied. Although it wasn't always this full of attractions, it has been pulling in visitors for many years and its popularity does not seem to be diminishing.

It is a great place to visit even if you only have shopping on your mind as Orlando area is full of beautiful shopping malls, restaurants and shops of every type. An Orlando vacation is a destination that offers a wide range of attractions perfect for adults and children of all ages.

The Central Florida Zoo for instance only opened back in 1975 and was owned by the Sanford Fire Department prior to that but is now the home to over four hundred animals. The Central Florida Zoological Park and Botanical Gardens is dedicated to preserving the beauty and wonder of animals including their habitats.

It is also possible to see a large collection of the works of Louis Tiffany at the Museum of American Art over in Winter Park. This collection comprises Tiffany art glass, clayware and ornaments plus the chapel interior designed for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.

Surprisingly, Orlando is not just about fun for the children because adults are very well catered for in this entertainment town. There is also plenty to do in the evening when you take an Orlando vacation with family shows like the Pirates adventure or for adults, Disney's Pleasure Island and Universals city walk.

Another great place to visit about twenty minutes drive from Orlando Airport is The Orlando Science Center, originating back to 1955; it is a huge complex with over two hundred thousand square feet of exhibition space spanning ten halls. Then there is the International Trolley and Train Museum where you can see toy trains from the 1920s; plus take a ride in a California Victorian-style half open/half closed trolley car.

For something a little different there's the Titanic Exhibition which tells the story of the ill fated Ocean Liner performed by a character from the ship; the displays contain some original salvaged items and at times the tour is very moving. A quieter more relaxing time can be found within the grounds of Lake Eola Park where you can enjoy over forty three acres of wonderful parkland which includes a boating lake for the more energetic.

However, there aren't that many visitors who visit Orlando without a trip to one of the four main Disney theme parks or the equally impressive Universal studios; where a person's age really doesn't matter. If you have never vacationed in Orlando before, you must try it at least once; it doesn't really matter when you go, however holiday seasons do get busy, especially Christmas; well, who wouldn't want to spend Christmas with Mickey.
