Fur Scarves Like In The Movie Dr. Zhivago

Aug 17, 2007
Wondering what to add to your closet this holiday season? Don't rush out and buy a new wardrobe! This year's most popular fashion accessories are not shoes or watches or bracelets but fur scarves. Why are they so popular? They are luxuriant, warm, comfortable, comforting, and they can so easily dress up and dress down a wardrobe. What's more, these soft fashion accessories in can invigorate a tired wardrobe with some drama, panache and beauty.

At first you might be thinking that they have fairly limited application... to be used only in the coldest of weather and wrapped around a big, bulky coat. On the contrary! A fun scarves can be used in many other ways and is appropriate for several different outfits and occasions.

Of course the most obvious use is the outdoor winter use. However, you don't have to wait until the coldest day of the year to break out your faux rabbit or fox. As soon as a little nip appears in the air until the cold, wet spring wind stops blowing, a fox shawl is an appropriate accessory. You don't have to save it for the bulkiest of winter coats but instead pair it with a lighter jacket and still stay warm. A lot of your body's temperature is influenced by your head and neck so if you want to be warm, you don't have to bundle up your body, you need to bundle up your head and neck. And a beautiful faux fur scarf, can do just that.

Another gorgeous use for a rabbit scarve is to pair with a formal wear dress during the weddings and formal holiday parties you will be attending. Sometimes you don't have a matching coat or jacket to keep you warm. With a fur scarf you'll barely notice the cold. It's also a splash of opulence to take your dress to the next level.

Finally, you may want to consider a smaller designer wrap for a date with a guy or an evening out with the girls. A lighter one in a smaller width scarf is appropriate here. Consider rabbit or mink or fox. Wear it with a jean jacket or jeans and a leather jacket for a head turning look.

Fur is a great scarf choice for so many reasons. It can keep you warm but it also doesn't get too hot. That way, you'll be able to manage your temperature better. Also, it looks great with a variety of styles, occasions, and outfits from very formal to very casual.

What should you wear your fur with? It's a natural product so it tends to go well with just about anything, however it looks best when worn against a smooth material, such as velvet, cotton, or leather. It will look good against coarser material (such as wool, other types of knits, or even other rabbit, fox, mink) but looks best against smooth material.

You also have the benefit of a range of colors to pair it with. They can look great with anything from black to white to anything in between. And they look great against cream colored outfits and don't forget to add a little drama by pairing a lighter fur against a darker color or a darker fur against a lighter color.
