Internet Marketing Strategy - Are You Too Busy to Take Action?

Sep 10, 2008
Are you too busy to take action ~ what a crazy question. However, it's a valid question and one you should be asking yourself. You may just find you are too busy to take action.

Let's talk about the difference between taking action and being busy. Here it is folks, in a nutshell. Is what you are doing making you money? Well, is it? If it's not you are probably just busy. What do I mean by that? Here are some examples.

* Are you doing keyword research all day ~ or ~ are you writing those good keywords in quality content that will get you paid?
* Are you reading yet another 27 dollar ebook ~ or are you implementing the strategies from the last one (dare I say 2 or 3?)
* Are you checking email 30 times a day ~ or building something that will send you "you've been paid" messages?

The difference is being busy is just like in elementary school when the teacher gave you "busy work", something that keeps your fingers and maybe your mind busy ~ but does not really accomplish anything or further your learning or add money to your paypal account.

So how do you move from busy to action?

It is a seemingly easy question, but can be a little more difficult when you get down to it. I think it begins with laser targeted vision ~ where are you going, what do you want to accomplish.

This is where it gets a little complicated, because there are so many different directions you can go in to make money online. If you are trying to move in many directions you will actually go nowhere. Creating a vision, and and implementing a personal internet marketing strategy will help get your focused and help you stay on track. Here are some steps to help you set up your own personal internet marketing strategy.

Decide where you want to go or accomplish (set a goal).

Make sure your goals follow the "smart" plan. That simply means they are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and targeted. If you make sure your goals are each of those you will find it easier to know when you are moving forward.

For example you may decide you want to "complete 1 new keyword targeted post each week. Submit 5 articles for my keywords each week." etc. You will definitely know if you have been able to accomplish that goal. You will also be able to see results from taking those actions.

Creating "smart" goals will give you something to focus on and accomplish before the end of the month. They will help you stay focused and on track. They will also provide you with plenty of action steps instead of just doing things that keep you busy and make you look, and maybe feel like you're working.

Having these focused goals also allows you to ask yourself a clarity question, to make sure you am taking action and not just staying busy. What is a clarity question? It's a question that keeps you moving forward and taking action. Here's an example of a clarity question you might use. "Is this moving me toward my monthly goals"

Once you find a clarity question that moves you go ahead and print the question out and tape it somewhere you will see it often, your monitor is a great place. It will be a constant reminder to stay on task and take action!!

Only when you take actions that move you toward your monthly, daily or weekly goals will you see those "you've made a sale" emails when you do take a minute to check your email (once or twice a day) :)

This is an excellent way to formulate your own personal internet marketing strategy. Since we are all working on different marketing endeavors and moving toward different end goals no one can just give you a plan. My plan may not work for you, but I can give you the skeleton, and the information.

Today it's up to you to set up your ACTION plan, and start taking action.
